Great work! I am super excited to try these. Oddly enough, I am also a soap and lotion maker but have been winding that business down due to Covid, which is fine, I've kind of lost my passion for it lately. However, one thing I DID love to do was make my lotions and potions! I can recommend that if you did want to add some real vitamin E, it is easy enough to get and it will last forever. Make sure you are not getting the synthetic version either, use real Tocopherol - T--50. Additionally it will act as a stabilizer which will help any oils maintain a longer shelf life without going rancid. It will be a nice additive that will also help the effectiveness of the Vit. C Serum. I would use 1/8th-1/4 of a teaspoon, although in the handcrafted beauty products industry we generally deal in grams or cc's, I think you'd be fine with that measurement. While a preservative could be considered, since this is just for your personal use only and you are using it up quickly, I think you'll be fine. Thank you Kimberly, you are brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing! 👍😉

You look great! Hard to believe you're in your 60s. I've used vitamin C for many years now all over my face and body, put it in water to rid it of chlorine and chloramides for both baths and fish tanks. I used to mix it into my moisturizer with Sundown vitamin E. Now I make my own lotion. Vitamin E helps stabilize the vitamin C, C oxidizes pretty quickly so I make up small batches and store in the fridge. Just be careful bc vitamin C can oxidize to an orange brown, even though it's clear when you make it. I wear black 90% of the time, so it's not a problem for me, but I've gotten it on my white bath towels before, which is how I found out😕. 🌱

Yes, you never know what you're getting when you purchase something from the store rather than making it at home or getting it from someone that makes it at home. There was a show on Dr Oz and he showed how a variety of the same supplement; for instance a multivitamin, and purchased them from different stores, the outcome was shocking most of the products did not contain what was stated on the label. So yes, anything homemade is much better.

So simple and cheap! I have been neglecting my skin for several years and am now wanting to do something about it. Just ordered a microdermabrasion home-unit and am now looking at things like hyaluronic acid serums and, yes, Vitamin C serums, too, so this is perfect timing. Looking forward to trying this out. Especially as I diamond-buff my skin over time down to a finer level. Large pores and a more leathery appearance has spread from my nose to even my forehead, and the cheeks aren't as fine as they used to be, either. I will be 70 in October. Better late than never, says me. But having inexpensive products available will certainly help my process. Thank you, Kimberly!

I have made both of your serums, and love them, but I have a question about the Hy serum. Does it need to be stored in the refrigerator, even after it gels? I did not store my in the refrigerator after the initial 4-6 hours, and it appeared to grow moldy after about a week or two. Just made a fresh batch, but wondering what I may have done wrong. Kimberly, thank you so very much for putting these diy's out there. I have made both & as you said, I now feel free to use them liberaly. I do have a question regarding the Hyloranic acid, mine came out very thick, like a "jello" type consistency - I followed the instructions carefully (not that it was difficult), I even made a second batch just in case I had done something wrong....same result. There is no way it will pour into a small bottle - I'm able to use it, I just have it a container with a lid & I just use it from there. I think it's okay, but I'm still confused about the consistency. Any thoughts? I really appreciate all your videos, you are so very lovely & I really enjoy watching you & all your advise. I am definitely a mature lady, I'll be 75 in just a couple days, but I have always worn make-up & I like to stay current, but appropriate for my age. I put essential oils in extra virgin olive oil, and use that as a moisturizer, both body and face, after showering. Been doing that for years! I have sensitive skin and it’s perfect. I broke out with Mary Kay products. Just research which ones are good for tightening skin, and make sure you get organic steam distilled (the kind for your diffuser are alcohol distilled). They’re worth the slight extra cost.

I tried both serum recipes from this video. I have one question; my hyaluronic acid serum is very sticky on my face, am I doing something wrong?

Thank you so much for these DIY versions. I'm getting close to using up my Timeless Vit C serum and wasn't looking forward to the expense of another. I'm going to try the DYI version to see how it works for me. I'll keep you posted

Thank you for this great informational video. Question...at first you say 5 1/2 tsp water, then when putting it together you say 4 1/2, could you please clarify which? Thanks again!

I have been making my own Hylauronic acid for a few years, however I use a percentage of bright boost Neutragena Illuminating serum as the stabiliser, I have always understood the hyalauronic acid to be a live culture which needs to be either kept in the fridge or add stabilisers so it's why I use another product to deliver this.hence not needing the product to stay in fridge. 😄

I use vitamin C powder the same. I mix it in my moisturizer and apply straight to face. Never need to keep in the fridge

Hi Kimberly, have you considered whether a preservative is required since the serums are water based? I have read some lotion recipes that say you have to use a preservative any time your product is water based. Thanks so much
@Mel_ski2 жыл бұрын
I would think that is why she is using distilled water as opposed to regular or spring water
@SSmith-dn9ib2 жыл бұрын
@@Mel_ski Distilled water is not a preservative though. Anything with water and or glycerine etc. needs a preservative I was told. Depends on the ph. Best to test . The vitamin c if a very low ph between 3-5 can last 2 weeks. This serum does not easily attract mold and bacteria. The hyaluronic acid lasts only as long as i.e soup would last in the fridge, 2-3 days. Butters and oils do not need preservative. As I dont know which preservative to use or on what quantity I will sadly give this a miss.
