Great work! I am super excited to try these. Oddly enough, I am also a soap and lotion maker but have been winding that business down due to Covid, which is fine, I've kind of lost my passion for it lately. However, one thing I DID love to do was make my lotions and potions! I can recommend that if you did want to add some real vitamin E, it is easy enough to get and it will last forever. Make sure you are not getting the synthetic version either, use real Tocopherol - T--50. Additionally it will act as a stabilizer which will help any oils maintain a longer shelf life without going rancid. It will be a nice additive that will also help the effectiveness of the Vit. C Serum. I would use 1/8th-1/4 of a teaspoon, although in the handcrafted beauty products industry we generally deal in grams or cc's, I think you'd be fine with that measurement. While a preservative could be considered, since this is just for your personal use only and you are using it up quickly, I think you'll be fine. Thank you Kimberly, you are brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing! 👍😉

You look great! Hard to believe you're in your 60s. I've used vitamin C for many years now all over my face and body, put it in water to rid it of chlorine and chloramides for both baths and fish tanks. I used to mix it into my moisturizer with Sundown vitamin E. Now I make my own lotion. Vitamin E helps stabilize the vitamin C, C oxidizes pretty quickly so I make up small batches and store in the fridge. Just be careful bc vitamin C can oxidize to an orange brown, even though it's clear when you make it. I wear black 90% of the time, so it's not a problem for me, but I've gotten it on my white bath towels before, which is how I found out😕. 🌱

Someone may have already noticed this, but I made the recipes this morning and found the PDF Vit C recipe is different from your video. The PDF states the 10%, 15% & 20% recipes use 1/4 teaspoon vitamin C powder. The 20%, per your video, is 1-1/2 teaspoons. Feel so pretty just using these new DIY serums I made today! Thank you so much for sharing this and your other health, skin and style videos with us. Your videos have become a part of my day.

Yes, you never know what you're getting when you purchase something from the store rather than making it at home or getting it from someone that makes it at home. There was a show on Dr Oz and he showed how a variety of the same supplement; for instance a multivitamin, and purchased them from different stores, the outcome was shocking most of the products did not contain what was stated on the label. So yes, anything homemade is much better.

So simple and cheap! I have been neglecting my skin for several years and am now wanting to do something about it. Just ordered a microdermabrasion home-unit and am now looking at things like hyaluronic acid serums and, yes, Vitamin C serums, too, so this is perfect timing. Looking forward to trying this out. Especially as I diamond-buff my skin over time down to a finer level. Large pores and a more leathery appearance has spread from my nose to even my forehead, and the cheeks aren't as fine as they used to be, either. I will be 70 in October. Better late than never, says me. But having inexpensive products available will certainly help my process. Thank you, Kimberly!

I had all but given up, but since taking my skin care more seriously, and with your fabulous make-up tips, I feel like a new woman. You gave me a priceless gift. I have made both of your serums, and love them, but I have a question about the Hy serum. Does it need to be stored in the refrigerator, even after it gels? I did not store my in the refrigerator after the initial 4-6 hours, and it appeared to grow moldy after about a week or two. Just made a fresh batch, but wondering what I may have done wrong. Also, it was too thick to get into a dropper bottle. What is the secret?

Kimberly, thank you so very much for putting these diy's out there. I have made both & as you said, I now feel free to use them liberaly. I do have a question regarding the Hyloranic acid, mine came out very thick, like a "jello" type consistency - I followed the instructions carefully (not that it was difficult), I even made a second batch just in case I had done something wrong....same result. There is no way it will pour into a small bottle - I'm able to use it, I just have it a container with a lid & I just use it from there. I think it's okay, but I'm still confused about the consistency. Any thoughts? I really appreciate all your videos, you are so very lovely & I really enjoy watching you & all your advise. I am definitely a mature lady, I'll be 75 in just a couple days, but I have always worn make-up & I like to stay current, but appropriate for my age. Again, thank you you are an absolute delight! all your

I've been wanting to make my own serums for a while now. You're right, it can get quite pricey when you use them regularly. Thank you for sharing your recipe and process on how to make vitamin C serum as well as hyaluronic acid serum. It's very helpful.

That was easy fun and very informative. I have been making my own hyaluronic acid for a couple years now. Did not know about the vitamin C I use a couple drops of radish root in the hyaluronic as a preservative. I wonder if I could do the same with a vitamin C?

Hi, I’m incredibly grateful I’ve found your page and want to make both the serums. Can I ask at which point in your morning/evening regime do you use these? Would you cleanse, polish then use both serums, or any moisturiser and if using both serums in which order do you use them? I apologise for all the questions this is all new to me, but very excited to introduce this into my skincare regime. Thank you, Sharon.

Hello, sunscreens are really essential if you think they are poison and bad chemicals you can try something natural put a potato into the carrot juicer so you get a pure clear potato juice and immediately pour it into ice molds and refregerate them because potato juice tends to oxidize very fast then each time just get one ice cube and rub it on your skin it will protect you from uv light and also from heat
@783342
@783342 4 жыл бұрын
@@soomaabdullah16 We need sun on our skin 10-20 minutes a day and then to cover up. Choose your best time to get sun. You don;t want hot sun on pale skin, but we are short of Vitamin D and that's very detrimental to our health.

I would not: 1) you don't know how it will affect your skin when combined with the other ingredients 2) essential oils can become rancid easily, so you don't use regularly on your delicate face.

I put essential oils in extra virgin olive oil, and use that as a moisturizer, both body and face, after showering. Been doing that for years! I have sensitive skin and it’s perfect. I broke out with Mary Kay products. Just research which ones are good for tightening skin, and make sure you get organic steam distilled (the kind for your diffuser are alcohol distilled). They’re worth the slight extra cost.

I have been making my own Hylauronic acid for a few years, however I use a percentage of bright boost Neutragena Illuminating serum as the stabiliser, I have always understood the hyalauronic acid to be a live culture which needs to be either kept in the fridge or add stabilisers so it's why I use another product to deliver this.hence not needing the product to stay in fridge. 😄

@SSmith-dn9ib

@@Mel_ski Distilled water is not a preservative though. Anything with water and or glycerine etc. needs a preservative I was told. Depends on the ph. Best to test . The vitamin c if a very low ph between 3-5 can last 2 weeks. This serum does not easily attract mold and bacteria. The hyaluronic acid lasts only as long as i.e soup would last in the fridge, 2-3 days. Butters and oils do not need preservative. As I dont know which preservative to use or on what quantity I will sadly give this a miss.
