Your creation of honeycomb polycarbonate lids is excellent, I made them for my aquariums, I also used an aluminum corner frame and air vents to avoid condensation. Have a good start to the week Daniel

You did a good job! I've made lids out of double walled polycarb for all my tanks. Its a great insulator and keeps the water in the tank. If you're feeling really crafty, you can easily add some light duty piano hinges to make a lid. You can then add food and get in the tank without taking the whole thing off. I also edged them with duct tape to hide my wobbly cuts 😉

Thanks very much, for the kind words and the suggestions. I have been thinking up solutions to access for feeding so I might give some of your ideas a try. Thanks again.

First of all very nice of you to give it to someone that needed it Nice covers and wooden lid I need to get some polycarbonate. I wish I had added a peace lily to my latest video.

Great video Daniel and really good of you to give the tank away to someone more neady. Just one thing I came across and it would be good to know what experience others have had. I used to use polycarbonate on my greenhouse but I found that once moisture got inside the little tubes, I would then have a problem with algae inside the polycarbonate. The only way I found to cure this was to run some silicon along the open edges.

Good point man and will be interesting to see what others say. I haven't had that issue myself yet but almost looking forward to it to see what remedy I may be able to discover. Hope other people who have had the greenhouse issue see your comment and post some solutions too.

What a beautiful job Daniel……we love this stuff and have done a few videos on it too….we can get polycarbonate for much less here in the states and have used it for lids many times …. Our green lantern tank has it and we used tin snips to cut it with ease. Since they are angled it make it easier than scissors. We have been looking at peace Lillie’s for a new nursery tank we are going to make this Spring…..thanks for more awesome ideas and tips sir😀😀👍👍

Nice job making those lids, I like that you can cut out spots on the lids to put whatever you want through it, you can only do that with glass up to a certain size on the thin plastic strip that attaches to the backs of them.

Love watching these types of video you did a great job on these lids . the polycarbonate sheets are so versatile but you have to make sure you don’t get the uv protected one or your full spectrum light wont get through .. thought it was worth a mention for people that don’t know there are more than 1 type

You did a really nice job and smart idea to make the cardboard template first. Very nice of you to give the tank away to someone that needed it. Great diy lid ideas and I hope you're having a nice weekend, Daniel! 🙂👍

That was a great D.I.Y. mate. I need to do something like this for my tanks, mostly to keep that heat my electric bill is monstrous. Well done and more importantly, never boring!
@DanielKeepingFish

Thanks ever so much mate. My tanks are mostly all in an open area at the bottom of my stairs and as you know it's cold here most of the year so I big part of why I did it. The power bills are ridiculous here at the moment.

When i do mine, I make 2 lids so when one opens the front, the rear stays in place. For the plants, I find it much easier to use hydroponics pots. They have a large flange on top, and being circular the hole can be made with a hole saw. I'm not strong enough to cut that stuff with scissors Daniel, perhaps your wrists and forearms recieved more intensive training back in the days befoer Mrs DKF?
@DanielKeepingFish
@DanielKeepingFish 7 ай бұрын
Yeah man. Used to get a lot more time for tennis before Mrs DKF came along. 😆 Thanks for the extra suggestions. Am toying with a couple of ideas around a feeding/maintenance hatch solution.

Dear Daniel: My, friend recently purchased polycarbonate and intends to use it, to make a lid, for his 72-gallon, bow-front tank. I love how you sorted a space, for the peace-lily basket. It was very nice of you to give your, terrific tank, stand, and wood canopy, to a friend and to fix it up, beautifully, before doing so. Thank you, for sharing this, interesting and informative video. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

Thanks very much E.J. I don't know how handy your friend is obviously but making up a template first was very helpful to me. May be worth mentioning the idea particularly since it's a bow front they are working with. Of course if they already know what they're doing then please ignore.

Hi Daniel. How are you, Sir? It is good to see you. Great job, well done. I have done the same myself a few times. As it is inexpensive and quick to make, plus with it being Polycarbonate it is very light and it still allows the light to shine through. Out of appreciation to you for taking the time to produce this content I have given this video the 38th like 👍🏼 to say thankyou very much for sharing. Have a great Week and take care, Sir. 🤙🏼🙂🤙🏼❤️

Can't believe you were the first one to notice that or comment on it anyway haha.. Yeah was like that for a few weeks but all straightened up now.
@MorningDriftwood
@MorningDriftwood 7 ай бұрын
@DanielKeepingFish Ever since my friend refused to straighten his tank until one of the panels just cracked, I can't help but mention it. My tank has a very little tilt. The bubble in the level is within the center lines, but it's a tiny bit closer to one. It makes me anxious from time to time when I think too much about it.
@DanielKeepingFish
@DanielKeepingFish 7 ай бұрын
@MorningDriftwood yeah. Was that excites to set it up I totally skipped levelling it off. Pretty dumb. I took clips of how I levelled it. Might make it into a video. Not sure. Appreciate you saying anyway. 👍
