Here we go.....another project added to my list. Think this one’s coming before the string building jig. Good vid, cute kid. Thank you and good hunting!

Hahaha! Man its been a year and I am still flinging arrows! Just bought my boy his first compound bow and he is one excited little kiddo!
@rakkup75724 жыл бұрын
Outdoor Highlife that’s great to hear man. My kids are pretty much my opposite. Don’t want nothing to do with it so that’s a blessing for you. Just laughed at the 4’x48” remark again lol I’ve collected everything I need now, but season in exactly two weeks here and been flinging broadheads at my layered target. I do have a roll of 85cm (70m) target faces I can’t wait to use after I quit smelling like a girl deer!

Awesome work mate from Queensland Australia. I have my first compound bow ordered and on its way and will be making something like this target asap. How has the target held up? Would you do anything differently?
@OutdoorHighlife2 жыл бұрын
Hey man!! Sorry I just seen this!! Congrats on your first compound! Man the target has held up very well! If I would do one thing different would be to build it just a tad smaller. It is big and on wheels but its pretty heavy when rolling it around. Im thinking next time I will build one roughly 4'x4'. I would build it exactly the same but just a little smaller. Good luck hunting!

@@OutdoorHighlife thanks for the reply. Our local hardware store bales up their soft plastic waste using a machine. It is packed super tight into a cube 80cm x 80cm x 50cm. I then built the box around those dimensions using your general design. I used the target for the first time today and worked well. Arrows penetrated about 6 inches. Super hard to pull them out so hopefully it will soften up with use.

Hey did the plastic filling end up messing with your arrows. Like plastic sticking to the arrows just like a driving golf balls off turf
@OutdoorHighlife4 жыл бұрын
I have been shooting the target about a year now and its been good to my arrows. No issues here. Happy hunting!
@OutdoorHighlife3 жыл бұрын
Haven't had a problem messing with my arrows. Occasionally there would be a film on my arrow when I pulled it out of target, but comes right off!

Apply silicone spray to your arrows, they will stay clean and be easier to pull out

What if you put some hey Bale inside, would that work?
@OutdoorHighlife3 жыл бұрын
That could possibly work! Haven't thought about that. If you could keep it out of the weather so the hay wouldn't rot.
@bobbydenezza7795 Жыл бұрын
Instead of plastic you could use R Tech Rigid white foam insulation. Slide the insulation inside your wooden target frame box.
@zackbussey9874 Жыл бұрын
Did you just stack the foam board in layers? Was it difficult to pull the arrows from the foam? I have a ton of extra foam board laying around the garage.
@bobbydenezza7795 Жыл бұрын
@@zackbussey9874 Yes I used 6 layers of Rigid foam. It's not too hard to get out if you rub some arrow lube on the arrow before shooting it. If you don't, it may be a struggle to get the arrow out. After you shoot unto it for a while it'll be easier to get out.

I bet foam board would work! May have to try it. It was just plastic that I purchased from Lowes. Like the plastic painters use but a little thicker. It comes in a big roll.

Reckon how many sq ft of plastic you used?
@OutdoorHighlife4 жыл бұрын
Chase Farmer probably close to 2,000 sq ft. Thanks for watching!

Mix plastic with old clothes. Go behind like the goodwill place in the trash. They trash a lot of clothes

How big is the tarp u wrap it with
@OutdoorHighlife4 жыл бұрын
I used a 12x12 but I feel like you can get away with a 10x10

The tarp I used was way to big but its what I had at the time. I think you could get by with 12x12

How much 6 mil went into this?
@OutdoorHighlife4 жыл бұрын
Joe Fournier Probably around 20’X100’ of plastic. You can also use any kind of plastic bags, old t shirts etc.
