this is an epic build! I spent many years fixing the automated bobbin winders at our embroidery business, we needed to wind 500 bobbins at a time.. this is very clever!

Amazing project! Lots of skill to make this happen! I made something similar for a different application and it has litteraly paid itself 5x the past year. You learn programming, mechanics, electronics, pcb design, wire routing, heat transfer, physics, you name it!

Great impressive project. A small suggestion, in the nichrome wire section, you could have used ceramic beads to slightly isolate the acrylic from the nichrome wire, thus preventing the gradual slowly melting plastic.

Yes, I have a sewing machine - and the Bobbin winder is *annoying* to use. This seems a trifle overkill for my current needs, but this level of automation is intriguing….

I've always wanted to wind bobbins like this with wire to make single string guitar pickups, but wrapping them by hand is beyond tedious... This would be almost exactly the type of set up I would need, but for a different method of cutting the wire... I doubt the hot wire will cut magnet wire...

this is pretty cool. nice mecanic. do you think you can make a machine to crimp dupont connector on the wire ? because this is tidious to do by hand when you have hundreds to made for a project, it is also not consistent and a lot of faillure occur by hand. I think you can use the hand cripping tool and automatism it.

@Marcello9702 жыл бұрын
... and also the potentiometer !! There are no free analog inputs except A6 and A7 of the second L293D. I believe the button and potentiometer are soldered under the board (out of sight) on the unused pins of the L293D which is not mounted. It would have been complete if he had shown it but it probably wouldn't have been nice to see ...! *Update* This is part of the code: int pot = A7; int val = 0; int button = 2; so that we found where Pot and Button are connect to!

An interesting project for me. I would like to recreate that. Unfortunately I don't have a CNC machine to mill out the parts. So I would have to cut them out manually or produce them in a 3-D printer. Unfortunately, neither dimensions nor a scale are given in the CAD file. The board layout and the parts list for assembly were not published either. It's not just about advertising or hymns of praise for the developer. You would also like to be able to recreate your projects.

@hamjudo4 жыл бұрын
In a project like this, it doesn't matter much. In professional settings, engineers usually choose parts that are already being used in other products. That way they don't have to inventory anything new. For a hobbyist, use whatever you have on hand. Note that there are many kinds of rotary sensors, with huge variations in tactile feedback.

It would make sense that the idea of sharing is to allow people to make this themselves. Is this correct? If so, it would be nice to have all the information, not just that related to things people can buy from affiliate links or order at JLCPCB. It's kind of you to share, but it seems half-hearted. Beggars can't be choosers, and I can design my own PCB and figure out physical dimensions and such, but by then I'll be "reinventing the wheel" instead of recreating your project. I don't mean to be rude, but for clarity, is this about advancing and sharing knowledge or showing off and advertising products and services?
