In this video, i have shown how to make a motorised camera slider using an arduino nano, stepper motors and some basic electronic components.
the camera slider slides on a 20x40mm aluminium extrusion profile of 500mm length.
i have used 4 delrin POM wheels and 3d printed plates to enable movement.
the brain of the project is an arduino nano, along with an OLED display and a rotary encoder to control the movement of the slider. the slider uses 2 stepper motors of 3kgcm torque and DRV8825 drivers with 1/32 microstepping to enable smooth movement at slower speeds.
for mounting the camera i have used a Ball Head along with 2 625 bearings and a gt2 pulley and 110mm closed loop timing belt for rotational movement in the y axis. for the x axis linear movement i have used a 550mm length gt2 timing belt and a gt2 pulley on the motor shaft.
i have added rubber feets to the 3d printed legs so that the slider is stable on any surface. it also has 2 limit switches on each side so that it does not travel ahead of the profile end.
you can easily make one yourself by following the video and the links mentioned below.
