DIY Audi GPS Fix | Quick & Cost-Free Solution Without Green Engineering Menu Access!

🔧 Have GPS issues on your Audi? Watch this video to discover a quick, cost-free fix that doesn't require accessing the green engineering menu! I tried numerous KZbin 'fixes,' but none worked until I found this solution - fixed in less than an hour with ZERO £££ spent! The car in the video is a D4 S8.
🚗 No need to navigate the green engineering menu, but if you're curious, just turn the ignition on and press SETUP & CAR (or MENU & CAR). The green menu must be enabled first for this to work. If it isn't you will need VCDS or OBD11 or another OBD system to turn this feature on.

First of all a big thank you for your guidance! I ve got an Audi A7 C7 2012 model, with 3G, auxiliary heater, BT, TV, WiFi. I am saying all that because might affect my car signal. Anyway, a year ago I installed retrofit CarPlay, everything was going well, but 6 months later my CarPlay got crazy, all the apps lost the signal and showing my car km away. I swapped back to car sat nav which was working far better, but an hour later the car lost the position too! I read every single forum, I calibrated the navigation and back again on the road. Few minutes later again the issue and finally I decided to remove the antenna from the CarPlay. Unfortunately, that didn’t solve the problem and the worst part was that all the phone gps, android or iOS was not working inside the car. Finally, I found that pattern with the water/humidity. The car was losing the satellites and was creating something like faraday cage which was blocking every gps signal inside the car. For the Audi A7 C7, I had to remove the headliner from the back to get access in the antenna. You do not need to remove completely the headliner. Then I removed the antenna and resolder all the connections as you mentioned in the video and in my case the problem was more likely from the PCB board which has around contacts that they are coming in contact with the metal mount of the antenna. I clean them up and fit it back. Voila! 10 satellites back again and all the phones are working. Thanks again!

Well done Benji - found this as my 2019 A6 has the same issue. Luckily Audi have just agreed to fix it even though its 3 months out of warranty

@@Andrei9thouzen acc and audi guard braking do not work with GPS fault. even if your door lock is broken acc will stop working - its audi :)

Thanks for the idea! I'll be thinking about it, but maybe I'll go with a cheap Chinese under-dash antenna, because on the B8 A5 coupe it is a royal pain in the ass to access the shark fin antenna mounting screw. Basically I'll have to remove all the pillar trims, and to do that I'll have to remove rear passenger compartment trim, and to do that I'll have to remove the rear seat. Did that once to soundproof the car, but oh my it was a lot of labor.

I followed the instructions on the link you provided including using a male to male adapter cable to connect a separate GPS antenna from Amazon to the cable disconnected from the shark fin and still nothing. Now wondering if I've got either a bad GPS antenna from Amazon or a bad adapter cable (received two cables and neither have worked). Rather than but another GPS antenna, I'll take the shark fin off and try your method.....will keep you informed mate.

Shame I can't access the green menu though to check satellites (used/visible)....have tried the button presses but nothing so clearly need to do something else to access this.

@@robhallam8047 Good luck with your attempt to fix the shark fin. Personally, I liked the idea that the car remained stock rather than putting a different GPS puck somewhere in the car. But I totally get that it's a good alternative if you don't want to be messing with the shark fin. The green menu usually has to be 'unlocked' before you can access it - I have VCDS (www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/VCDS.php) which I used to unlock it, but you can unlock it with things like OBD11 (obdeleven.com/products?carBrand=Audi)

i had an open circuit pop off a month ago, disassembled the fin, resolderd like in the video and fixed it. Now when i needed the navi the most.....0 satelites, will redo the solder.

Do u have a Picture of the other side of the "greenCard" I guess I might have other issues, and I dont get to disassemble it to clean it up underneath.

Sorry I don’t. But if it isn’t coming apart by itself, then the solder is keeping it together. It might be worth desoldering (so you inspect the other side) and then resolver to see if that fixes your issue. If it doesn’t, then I agree, something else is going on. Good luck!

Hi good work mate. Same problem 0 satellites shown. Did you cut the black seal on the shark fin before you pulled the cover away? Assuming you just pull the outer shark fin off and stick it back on.

Yeah, no cutting was involved for mine, It came apart fairly easily once I took all the screws out. I just made sure it was all really clean, and a little GT85 on the seals as I put it back together :-)

I enabled the green menu from OBD11, but you can do the same with VCDS or from Upgrademyaudi (links below). Once you have enabled it, you can just press CAR and MENU together for 3 seconds.
