You really should point out centrifugal Force, G-Force your magnets. Take the diameter of your hub. Go enter that into an online G-Force calculator and see how many hundreds of pounds are trying to fly out of that at 5000 rpm. It could tear your hand-off or open up your face. A simple steel band would help. That has to be discussed, don't just throw those files out; as there could be people that don't know that. And if you make it slightly larger in diameter the g-force could be in the thousands of pounds!

Love this work and the great explanation! Just a couple of questions. Since the windings run around the core vs. In a direction parallel to the permanent magnet face, am I correct in understanding this to be a transverse flux motor vs. classical axial flux design? It doesn't really matter ... Just checking my understanding of radial, axial, and transverse designs. It seems transverse is better for torque ... Which is my main interest. Second, what is the max amperage/torque and sustainable amperage/torque given the inevitable heating issue? And would this be improved by using higher gauge wire? Lastly, do you have any knowledge of an analog to FOC DC motor control for this type of motor? I'm familiar with simplefoc but that is aimed at BLDC. I need similar abilities for angle, speed, and force control. Thanks!

My understanding is axial flux gives you a bigger dia. Motor & short thickness. Because the bigger dia. The more room you have for more cores at the circumference. Or more space you have between for more windings! That's why the hub less motors excel! See Verge Motorcycles fom Norway

I just noticed this is a Y configuration vs. the Delta configuration you showed in the diy motor build for the AC unit. Why the "y” config? I thought delta was more powerful? Can you describe and provide a link to the esc/vesc you used for compatibility with the demands of this motor?

Do you have a parts list for the bearing sizes and quantity of wire? At one point you mention that this is a 200W motor that will do 6000 rpm. Is this what it does? You also said that it could go up to 20A with a load. 18 ga wire is rated for 16A. If I changed to 16ga wire will it fit in the stator and under the magnets? what is the gap between the wire and magnets with 18ga wire. I opened the STL in soldiworks but they are just graphics files so I cannot measure. Can I email you directly to get more info on the motor? I have watched both the hub motor and A/C motor videos multiple times trying to get more information.

I am fascinated by this electric, (it's 3 phase?) axial motor and would like to have four (one for each wheel) but I don't have anything to put them into at the moment. I would have to build the single seat go-cart first, then figure out the battery situation (what kind of battery, placement, size, securement, etc). I'd love to have those motors, I just couldn't do anything with them.

Hi, I was trying to understand how the magnets work in axial flux. say in BLDC we have ABC phases, but on this one, I have a disc with magnets stick onto it, so how do I arrange the windings to get a rotation?

@JosephHui57

You can do inductive axial flux motor (see professor laithwaite’s video). So I think it is natural to extend that to reactance motor).
@zaynabds

@@JosephHui57 i know that lecture. May be a development to a more effective rotor type which optimally coupled with axial stator
@JosephHui57
@JosephHui57 Жыл бұрын
@@zaynabds very good. Depends on your application. I plan to use a coreless inductive axial flux motor for my commercial A/C. Startup is slow if you use 60 hertz 3 phase AC as current induced electric field is small without rotary motion (as in laithwaite’s video) You are right, the kind of reluctance synchronous motor of model 3 would be better for torque at all motor speed. Just that I don’t need that. I don’t think it’s that difficult to derive that for axial flux motor.
