The next logical step is a whole aerial battle: A bomber has a mission to drop ordnance on a certain target, the defending fighters have to take it down, but the bomber has one or two fighters to protect it , too. If the bomber is defeated before it can drop its bomb(s), the defenders win. If the bomber misses its target by a lot, the defenders win. But if the bombs hit the target, the attackers win, no matter what happens to any of the planes

It's crazy difficult in a real bomber to hit the target let alone an R/C one. The "in a pickle barrel" Norden Bombsight, only 10% of bombs dropped with it landed within a mile of the target. That's why they used carpet bombing.

@@muskokamike127 so have multiple bombers, coming in waves (like 3 bombers at a time). And between waves change batteries. At the same time have 2-3 bombs on a Bomber and if he misses one he can try again but at the risk of being shot down. There are some holes but it’s possible !!

I wish they would have something telling the hit motor to stop spinning, or make a control surface get stuck in it's position until the pilot hits a surrender switch to bring it back in one piece. It would only require a tiny PCB and would give real damage to flying characteristics. Then when the battle ends, you can just reset everything to land normally. Same for the fighters, just disable control surfaces once hit.

With the craft in flt spin apparently an AA round detonated the bomb in the bombay. My Dad was one of three to survive all whom spent the remaining months of the war as POWs. Dad would later spend many hours and missions as a crew chief in B 29s. He would have gotten a kick out of your creations. Thank you, God bless!

I love these things. One thing I would like to see more of is the big planes like the B17 being filmed from the ground on takeoff and landing. They look so much more realistic that way rather than having a camera on the tail or the wing. I like to see them taxi out to the hot spot to run up the engines. Then hit full throttle down the runway and gradually lift off like a fully loaded war bird. Then they do a bank to circle and form up. All of that looks so much more realistic when filmed from the ground. The other little cameras mounted on the aircraft are fine when airborne. They are good for filming the ground scene and really good for filming approaching hostile aircraft. Love these videos. I was a paratrooper for 9 years and have lots of jumps from C119, C123, C124 and C-130 aircraft as well as the HU1B. So, I've spent a lot of time 'chuted up and sitting alongside runways watching aircraft take off and land. It never got old with me.

the one on the tail doesn't bother me because that's where a lot of games put the virtual camera. I would like to see more camera mounted in the cockpit so it it's a "pilot's eye view"...

What an amazing flight! The B-17 looks so real right down to the exhaust streak on the engine cowlings and to have actual functioning turrets just adds to the realism! You guys have seriously outdone yourselves in this Plane, too bad the Messerschmidt crashed and broke up it would have been seriously cool to have footage of the two German fighters attacking the B-17, but when the engines started smoking....that was just so cool looking, as if we were actually following behind a Bomber taking damage! VERY COOL GUYS! I wish I lived in your area, I would so be a part of your community events! Hey guys, Dale from Aus here, been following this project from Aus since its inception, and it is brilliant. It is such a great example of a scale looking aircraft, which i think is testimony to your efforts and how well you looked into the detail of this lovely big B17, One suggestion and I guess it probably is not your first concern, but chrome spinner's on the ends of those props would really bring her into being the quintesential B17 replica, and maybe giving her scale props, as in black with the yellow tips.........You have allready done such a great job, I just think that the addition of those details may well be the icing on th cake for a truly spectacular looking B17..........

In my opinion, this event feels special because in war thunder, you are piloting a virtual aircraft and it feels far from reality. But piloting a plane like this irl and battling makes this a non-realistic feeling while conscious that it is happening in reality, and that is what would give such a special experience. So I really support your channel and the awesome things you are making and flying out.

A full scale RC only (and made with similar materials to the B-17) BD-5 would be pretty cool. The fact that there's no pilot would mean you could reduce the weight by way more than just the pilot. (Remove the pilot's weight, less power is required, which reduces weight, weight reduction means the structure doesn't need to be as strong, which reduces weight.)

Two words... Air Soft Being foam construction maybe onboard guns would penetrate opponent's aircraft, tanks or watercraft. Maybe also add air to surface rockets. Bombs made like airsoft grenades. The laser tag looked so real with the smoking engines. Glad you guys didn't blow up the B17 they were the most beautiful war planes in my opinion

This is pretty much your coolest video Flite Test. Seeing the smoke coming from the wing like that was so cool

Beautiful beautiful! I wonder if you can put a mortar tube in the fuselage then after the 4 motors smoke it’ll launch the mortar out of the fuselage for the final “bang”!!

You should make a video with as authentic taxi, take off, flight possible, and see how real you can get it to look on screen. If I remember correctly, the 1980s Memphis Belle, quite a few scenes were radio control aircraft.

Fantastic as always, very challenging but worthwhile and satisfying. How about taking on a build for the Royal Air Force Lancaster Bomber and attempt the good old DamBusters Bouncing bomb?

"he's so much slower than me" yeah, that's the trick....fighters come in fast and hot and hopefully blast past without taking any hits then climb again for another attack meanwhile you have mustangs all over you. That's why the B-17 had some many guns......

Yeah I got the feeling that there was no technical problem. Ol boy just couldn’t get a hit on the big slow bird.

Ah yes, cultured ones who like the B-17. What I don't like, however, is Spawncamper Simulator.

I believe your wife is onto something. Flying an airplane like a baseball towards a batter seems like a total blast. I used to want to drive over my 130x heli for therapy so I get it. How about flying a pusher wing towards a batter that's taking a swing? At least the motor could be saved after a home run swing of therapy. Great work and fun. Thank you FliteTest!
