I am so glad to have found your channel. As a beginner sewer, I loaded up on free sewing patterns to try, but I always ended up frustrated as I cannot get the sizing correct. Then I realized that my body shape/size is not "ideal." You made my experience in pattern drafting and sewing so enjoyable. Thank you very very much and keep on inspiring lots of people with your thoughtful creativity!

My granddaughters will appreciate something like this on our cold mornings. Years ago I wore an old helmet liner while doing my morning chores but it was still cold, my face stayed chapped all winter! Thankfully my granddaughters don't have outside morning chores!

Hi. I was on the ski hill near Banff yesterday wondering how could I have a pretty balaclava to wear under my ski helmet. Thank you. Wow. What a coincidence.
@ThoughtfulCreativity3 жыл бұрын
It sure is, a pleasant coincidence :) and you can use pretty fabric scraps for it and even add some fluffy stuff to it if that makes it better for wearing underneath a helmet :)

I am SOOOO excited to try this! I tried an upcycle version using an existing vest hoodie into a balaclava and pogies (hand covers that go over bicycle handlebars), but I needed to cut down the large hood. It's ok, but not great for fit. Having a pattern that will fit ME - AND looks so much cleaner and nicer than my first upcycle attempt is going to be amazing!!! I really can't believe that you figured out this pattern and were willing to share it with us. You are an incredibly talented and generous person. Thank you sincerely.

Recently, we in Massachusetts were enjoying temperatures in the 70's. In November. But we're now more seasonally appropriate with temperatures in the 40s. I've decided to make another -maybe 2 matching (so that I can alternate,wash and have a backup) for this long winter season. I literally wore out the one that I sewed last year. Without a doubt, this has been the most important pattern/project of yours that has made my life better. Thank you, again, so much.

We used to wear balaclavas as children (my grandma used to knit them for us). But children these days don’t seem to - what a shame if they’re not in fashion with youngsters any more. I’m certainly going to use this tutorial to make myself one from a fleece I have. Thank you.
@kme3 жыл бұрын
I need to make some of these for us here on the Prairies... I have stretch fleece I could use (it was meant to be a cape but I screwed up the cutting, so... lol I will have to try again. idek what was I thinking? 🤔) I remember wearing balaclavas when I was a kid too bc it was so freaking *cold*. I think it was the winter of 1976 or something that it got super duper cold for some reason. My parents got us kids these itchy black things to wear that I know now are balaclavas. I've seen new styles of them recently, and really liked your design. 🥰👍 edit to add: I'm going to forward this to friends who might be interested in making these for their family too. 👍

I first read 'Baklava' and was confused 😅. Yeah, those things are damn handy, when it's cold outside, especially on a bycicle. They stay on your head and don't narrow your field of vision (like most hoods do). Thanks for the thorough pattern drafting instructions! A great way, to use up some scrap fabric.
