Hey Bella It’s actually true, let me give you a little list: Floor tiles: $20 Wood: $100 Cushions & Pillows: $150 Carpet: $40 Table: $40 Flowerpots: $50 Lights: $30 Paint: $50 Nails & Screws: $20 And we had all of the tools that we used. Hope that helps ☺️

Lovely job you two. Those herbs though. Not going to do well at all in those pots with no drainage. They’re pretty stuffed in there too! One more thing, because they’re hung so high they are not going to get proper lighting to thrive and you will notice (if they live long enough without drainage) that they’re going to stretch and reach for sun light. My recommendation is to put some shade loving annuals in pots with drainage and take them out of these to water and once drained put back inside the hanging pots until next watering. Get a nice large pottery container and plant all your herbs together in that one container (again, you need to make sure there is drainage in the pot) and you’ll have a cute kitchen herb garden in one big pot. Or even a couple of larger pots. This is just my recommendation from experience. Herbs aren’t the easiest to grow in small pots. That’s how they start them in the greenhouse. They should go into containers or the ground. Good luck with your new home. You can change the annuals up on the wall by season. You get a new look every quarter. 💚

Thank you for your comment! We are still learning as we go, so we appreciate the advice! The herbs ended up doing really well and lasted throughout the summer. Those pots have an elevated bottom, which allows drainage. Thanks again for watching:)

You can remove cushions when you know its going to rain....but she also said they are waterproof..

So far we haven't had any problems! If there is lot of rain, we would take them inside. You can spray the pillowcases with a water-repellent spray to make them even more waterproof! Hope that is helpful :) -Rachel

Hey Ashley, thank you for reaching out. We just faced the same problem, the landlord painted the balcony new so we had to come up with an idea. Our solution is screw the wall to the bench. Totally works.

We just used normal outdoor paint. It is silicon based because the water based one isn't good for outdoor with rain etc.
