amzn.to/223o3LE Please click the link to see the selection of magnets. They are great for all kinds of needs around the house and shop. Make sure they are neodymium mine are and are super strong. In this video I use a suggestion from one of my longtime subscribers A. LeBlanc to make a ball bearing lawnmower blade balancer. Disclaimer:

I received the package Monday for the blade balancer. This will come in so handy. We cut over 5 acres of grass. Can't thank you enough doublewide6!!

I appreciate your effort. Two suggestions: 1. remove all grease from bearing and install a little of thinnest lube you can find. This will make bearing turn easier and your device more sensitive. 2. Maybe you can use cone of first device on your device to help center blade.

Excelllent work and ideas. Couldn't help but notice the release rope on the garage door. I removed mine and did the zip tie trick. After watching 65fords video of how easy it is to grab that rope from outside, decided to take care of that situation before hand. Thanks for the nice video!

Great job! My only observation is when you put the blade with the star opening on the jig it didn't fit snugly. Looked like about 1/32" gap. It looks like the blade would move to one side or the other of that gap which would surely change the weight distribution. Maybe the piece on the bearing would have fit the star opening prior to grinding it down. If so, I'm sure you have more stock of that pipe. Or something else to fit the star openings better.

Great video, How do we know he hub the bearing is in is balanced? When you add the blade wt. that could make a difference.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 6 жыл бұрын
It is close enough, but if you rotate the balancer on a sideways screwdriver the balancer heavy side will point down. Drill the back of the heavy side out with a 3/8th drill bit. Hope that helps.

Holy crap. It's a lawnmower blade not the space shuttle. Hub, as built, is adequately balanced.

The blade should NOT hold wherever you place it on the balancer. It should rotate to rest at perfectly level. Your bearing appears to have some internal friction.

Def should use a pusher on a table saw and not get fingers that close to the spinning blade

Just a matter of time! We had an old 3 in 1 table saw, sander, planer. My brother in law was cutting a board which kicked and his finger went into the planer, finger was a mess as he lost the tip.

+Affendog rather than a screwdriver? Wider the shaft more friction equals less blade movement. Bearings are wide, but the friction is removed.

If those magnets are even slightly out it will render that device useless. Even 1mm out or if one magnet is slightly lighter or heavier than its diametrically opposite it will not work correctly. That wooden block is your achilles heal. Are you sure that centre hole was drilled in exactly the centre of that block. You have introduced so many variables that will cause you grief with that design. I bet you didn't get all that grease out of the bearing either. Watch how it wobbles when it spins. Nice project, but it is no better than a nail in the wall.

Nice idea and was enjoying the video until I cringed at your safety approach. You need to learn how to properly rip wood / using your hand like you do against the rip fence 1:15 is asking for trouble. Additionally understand blade height! Push sticks sitting on the fence! Please learn proper safety tools and techniques so you will have all of your digits to use your balancer. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed end result

Not sure how important it was to watch you cut 2 pieces of wood on the table saw without using a fence.
@condor5635
@condor5635 4 жыл бұрын
Erich Stein - you mean push stick. Extremely dangerous technique. Blade is way too high for the cut and his finger are inches from the blade ripping small pieces. Funny the push sticks are resting right on the fence. Careless and sloppy. Hope he really understands the danger here

Curious as to why you would waste time finding the center of the board with your try square when in reality it made ZERO difference, You were only using the center core you drilled out. You could have simply put the hole saw in the drill press and guessed where the center was and drilled it in seconds with exact same result. (Assuming you were trashing the board you cut the core from, there was no point to all the accuracy in where to drill.)
@condor5635
@condor5635 4 жыл бұрын
peopleR2stupid - I was thinking same thing - reason is to locate precisely the 4 magnets hole locations. If they aren’t precise whole jig is crap.
