I absolutely love Saturday mornings, coffee and Garage Gear review, what more can ya ask for? JB, your reviews are awesome brother. Whats weird is i put one of these in my Amazon cart on Tuesday. Ive been on the edge about this mainly because i only have my rider blades and pusher blades. Do you think ot would be a good investment for just 3 blades? One more question? What should a spark plug look like when you have a perfectly tuned trimmer or blower? Maybe you can make a video on a good looking plug and a poorly tuned trimmer/blower plug? Have a great weekend and week ahead my friend
@GarageGear

Hey Gary! First off appreciate the positive feedback! Thanks for the kind words! I would recommend the sharpener! It saves me a bunch of time and trouble since it holds my grinder at the perfect angle everytime. A bunch of blades goes quick once you set your angles! As far as plugs go I clean mine usually once a season. A normal plug for me is usually a little dark or fouled. Not all gooped up or anything. Hope this makes sense. Have a good weekend bud!

Thanks for another great review and tutorial. I bought the All-American last spring and really wondered about the quality of the knock-offs. I made a 2x4 mount to clamp in my old Black & Decker workmate so its portable works great! I even put a vertical piece on ine end and mounted my Oregon Blade balancer to it. Also, I use a Dewalt cordless grinder and yes, the batteries get "in the way", but as long as you keep the battery above the arms when grinding, it's a non-issue

The All- American does have an adapter required to do one of the Honda dual blades properly. And it needs to be mounted differently depending in the blade generation. In my opinion, it makes huge difference. I did a couple of very dinged-up sets for a neighbor and his son which they were going to toss as a training for myself. They came out neatly perfect and they now use the blades again

I have the $10.00 HF angle grinder mentioned and use coarse flap wheel to sharpen mine. You clamp the blades down and push the flap wheel over its edge. Very easy to hold at the same angle and it takes little time, I see no reason for the guide unless you sharpen very often or have many blades to sharpen. I sharpen 5 blades nut once a year. Used to use a bench grinder; and angle grinder is a better way.

I just got one. I haven't used it yet, but I noticed the same thing while just working the arms. Reading the maintenance instructions, it's clear that they didn't apply the required Loctite to the threads of those bolts to hold tension. Instructions say tighten 1/8 turn more after the cup washers seat. I just bought some knockoff Loctite at Harbor Freight for 1/4 the name brand cost 😂 and reassembled the rig. I'll know soon whether this works. We're not the first--I've seen similar comments in Amazon reviews.

Just following up on my comment above. After applying thread locker to the pivot bolts and waiting a day, I tried it for touching up a new blade, and after adjusting to center my grinder and for matching the edge angle (turned out 35 degrees) it worked fine. No more loose pivot joints.

I got in the habit of always having a spare blade for my mower (currently an 80v Kobalt, which has been working great for the past 5 years). That way I can sharpen the spare blade and have it ready to swap at a moment's notice so I can mow when I want and sharpen the blade when I want. I also always put a little oil on the freshly sharpened blade to help prevent rust, but that's not a big deal.

Great video JB! I was looking at getting one but was a little leery. I'll order one now, "thru the link in the description"! Just a tip for you, always put the grinding wheel/disc facing up, grandfather told me that years ago. Never asked why but I'm sure there is a reason.

My argument wouldn't be just the "buy American" argument, but rather the blatant stealing of someone else's IP.

Good video and I like the comment about the prices, I agree, sometimes we just can't afford the cost of the name, whether is USA or Foreign. I'm still researching the blade sharpener, the knock off blade balancer is junk, even though a you tube video gave it a good/ or "same as" review.

@@dennisoneal8505 hey Dennis! Appreciate your positive feedback. If that price was closer to $100 or $150 I would consider it but at 5x the price that’s just too high for a tool that I personally don’t use all the time.

The All American cost me a fortune 5 years ago plus another insane cost for freight to Australia. Still, it has been a great product and kudos to the family business that developed this tool. It surprises me though - I assume there is an American copyright on this product - that the US permits importation of such an obvious copy especially from China!!!

Oh they sell them here too. Currently on special $AUD100 from a company in Melbourne . That's about $US65.

@@c138599 there has to be some kind of copyright somewhere. 5x the cost is crazy though!

If your battery gets to in the way, flop the bar around so that the angle faces forward on the arm that moves, instead of back towards you, if that makes sense like the way. So he middle of the guide bar is pointed at you, if you flopped facing away, like the way your knee goes, it’ll be out-of-the-way of your grinder battery.

That cheap knockoff is entirely made in China. The All-American is made and sourced in the USA, which is why I paid the extra. Just saying.
