Well done. While you're advancing your gun smithing skills others will hate. Dont let the ones bother you, that cant do it them selfs. Its like working on a car some people rather pay to get it possibly done right. Than just learning how to fix it and doing it for them selfs, for 3/4s the price😂.

Phenomenal video Im going to try this out tomorrow, but I may try sanding the barrel over the filing. Unless that’s something I should not do.

how well did your bullets fly out the barrel did it line up correctly

@bigjolley6684 I used an endoscope/borescope camera when I zeroed it. Looked like it lined up good. At 100 yards, very tight groupings. 300 yards about 2-3 inches.

It looks to me like you are having to apply a lot more downward force than is usually necessary when cutting threads, which tells me that you probably didn't remove enough metal from the barrel before employing your threading die. I hope the alignment was correct. If you were threading for a suppressor, much more attention should be paid to correct alignment, starting with the TAT as low in the die is you can place it without contacting the muzzle, then rotating it 90º with each 90º cut of threads until it is completely unthreaded from the die.

You are correct. I tried to avoid over cut my barrel

@@NorCalOutdoor I tried the same thing and applying to much downward pressure, I misaligned the threading initially, and ended up having to recut 1/32" smaller. I made sure the second time that I had taken enough off initially and used the TAT for almost the entire threading process. As such, I barely required any downward pressure at all, and that was only to start the initial cut. After about 90-120° of rotation, the die pulled itself down and I just had to apply moderate torque, stopping every 90° of advance to break off chips, add oil and counter-rotate the TAT. I probably cut almost 3/4" of thread on the barrel, then used a file to take the burr off the edge of the barrel, never going near the crown, of course. Now things align beautifully. I hope your threads do as well. That stuff matters! And yes it can be done by hand! Thank you again for making this video and encouraging others to try things for themselves (after doing proper research, acquiring proper tools, and understanding what risks failure may entail.) By the way, keeping the vice tight while doing this work is no easy task! Your video reminded me of this.

@N0B0DY_SP3C14L Sorry to know you had to cut 1/32", but glad to know you made it right. Yes, if you can pile it enough, it will make the threading easier. It is not easy to pile it equally around the barrel. You did a good job. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sure others will get benefits from learning your experiences.
