This method can be used to make a base shaper for any bag/purse be it the Longchamp Totes, LV Speedy, etc... Have fun! *Not sponsored. Cutting mats bought at Dollar Tree

Thanks girly.. I just bought a plastic place mate for 2 dollars and made a base shaper. Saved me money and worked just as good 🥰

Thank you so much! This will help me create better quality, sturdier bags. I usually come up with off the wall stuff like this but sometimes you need someone/something to kickstart the creative juices. Great job!!

As a crafter I have some industrial double sided tape to hold two pieces together. Great idea! Thank you!

If you want to stick both parts together, douse LIGHTLY with acetone the whole mat and work quickly. This basically melts superficially the plastic making it stick. Works flawlessly and doesn't come undone with time. But acetone dries very fast and you have to hurry. Acetone is basically nail polish remover, you can douse it on a sponge of sorts to put it onto the surface. Don't put too much, it'll warp the material if you overdo it!

Whenever I need a base shaper for my bag, I use the shoe box cover. In expensive and not damaging to the bag. Also I sometimes use the box itseld when I have many items that i need to put inside the bag.

First of all, congrats on the PhD, hope you find your thesis soon! On the other hand, I used another technique, with some cut cardboard I made sturdy with some papier mache (look it up). Yours seems faster, I'll give it a go. Thanks for the vid!

Excellent descriptive video. I too was wondering about the edges, as I need to stabilize some leather bags. Also concerned about cutting any lining with the edges.

I would just tape the 2 pieces together with Clear Tape and call it a day!

Doesn't the base move around ? How do you deal with that?

A magazine works great too.

It would make the bag heavier though.

I've been using it for several months and I haven't noticed it damaging the bag at all :)
