You’re welcome! Remember to address the reason you have water intrusion, otherwise you’ll have the issue again.

Below there is a bit of a cat fight between DIY Tutorial Guy and a critical commenter named youruuba. The product demonstrated is Quikrete's Hydraulic water-stop cement. This is the exact product I am getting ready to use and I have the manufacturer's instructions in front of me. DIY Tutorial Guy is correct when he says the manufacturer says nothing about getting the surface damp before applying their product. You must get the product damp but nothing is said about getting the wall surface wet.

Thanks for confirming what the didections say! There’s no sense in me giving bad information, you know? 🐱🥊😂 The cat fight part had me laughing, but you’re right, haha!

Hmmm, usually "tutorials" are done by people with plenty of education and experience in doing something, not from somebody just trying something for the first time. Here, we viewers have no idea if the preparation and application of the hydraulic cement is correct, and we don't know if it turned out OK. This makes for an unreliable tutorial. Just from my own experiences applying hydraulic cement, all the product I have purchased stresses that it is important to moisten the area where the cement will be applied. In this video, it is mentioned that the corner is already damp, but then it appears that the cement was applied along the whole wall, but no mention is made, nor evidence seen, of pre-moistening having been done. So this raises questions about the veracity of the tutorial. What other mistakes might have been made here?

You know, the world would be a better place without everyone constantly seeking to prove others wrong. As for an update, the dry river bed outside has diverted the problematic water issue, as I explained in the video. Due to that there has not been any water penetration and the floor has been dry since I did the work. As for having to moisten the area first before application, nowhere in the Quikrete container directions was that specified, nor have I read that anywhere else. Have a nice day, hope you can find the good in the world and be kind!

@@DIYTutorialGuy , my comment has nothing to do with being 'kind' or not. It is about accuracy and reliability of information presented to others. I explained the kinds of issues in the video that were giving me pause. This is constructive criticism.

@youtuuba fair enough, noted. However, you didn’t start your comment off with a tone that seemed like you were offering anything constructive. I explained that this was my first attempt at using hydraulic cement and also stated (several times) to viewers that the water issue outside needs to be dealt with and that hydraulic cement is not a permanent water mitigation solution. Should I have waited a few weeks to show the finished product and to reassure viewers? I should have. But hey, I have a FT job and a side job as well in addition to 2 young kids. I appreciate your criticism and will use it to better my videos in the future.

@@DIYTutorialGuyPay no attention to the man behind the mirror. Great video. You addressed how quick it sets up and that if you have to add more make sure the first layer is still damp. Even added additional info regarding addressing the root cause of the leak first. I don't ever think to take videos of stuff while I work. Thanks for taking time to share this. I used some today to plug up an old gutter well I broke off level with a sidewalk. Built it up a bit and used a rung out sponge to wipe a nice finish on top for aesthetics., but it plugged it up wonderfully. It doesn't shrink up like traditional concrete.
