Interesting! Do you know if this board has a reliable reverse polarity protection? And how about load sharing, to allow using the power bank while charging? Thank you!

It doesnt, i tried for testing purposes and board smoked pretty bad.

Very good questions and thank you to Armin for providing a reply as well. I typically do not use any DIY type of chip sets with the intention of pass through charging... if nothing else than for general safety sake. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and post a comment. [So sorry for the delay... life kinda got in the way for a bit]

so if i feed it with 3.7/4.2 one lithium battery , it will step the output up to 5 volts?

I bought a portable battery pack phone charger about 10 years ago when they were just starting to show up on the market. It actually uses a board that is extremely similar to this one, with just a couple things switched around in different spots. Crazy to think that this board has been around for that long. I just disassembled that same battery pack yesterday, as it has been the most reliable pack I’ve owned. It just wouldn’t give up! I tore it apart because the usb ports were so worn out they wouldn’t work anymore, but the charger did still function!

So i have 2 lipo battery packs that i found off of two tablets and was wondering if this charging module only works for 18650’s or other batteries too.
@DialedInDIY3 жыл бұрын
It works as is on similarly sized batteries. The data sheets for these types of charging boards often list how they can be adapted to work for a different battery size.

I used a USB Speaker. If i play the speaker with low volume then after 30 seconds the power bank circuit auto turn off. Can you please tell me how i can solve it? Which IC i have to remove or direct connection for solve this. Please tell me.....
@DialedInDIY3 жыл бұрын
I do apologize as this has several possible considerations and is not my area of expertise. I do know that low volume input can trigger a speakers "auto-off" feature. That means the issue may also be tied to the sound source itself. If you use a different power source with low volume coming from the same playback device do the speakers still shut off?
@justinc81573 жыл бұрын
DO you know the minimum current needed to prevent it from auto shut off? i tried using one in a USB to bluetooth conversion project and it didn't pull enough power to prevent it from automatically shutting down in about a minute.

There are differences depending upon the manufacturer but you can find out from the data sheet. These can be found on line by entering the product number in a search engine.

Hey Justin I ran into same problem, building a portable BT speaker I think I have it worked out. Connect to the micro usb just as if you were charging the battery than hold the switch on it takes a little bit it will flash on and off display when you see just the % and OUT let go The display stays on most of the time but the power going to my BT board now stays on. Hope this helped

Sir what is the max mah of the module with digital display???
@radiojourney35153 жыл бұрын
you did not cover the fact that running smaller devices with this charging module, it simply switches off after 1 minute. I cannot figure out how to bypass this limitation. I want to run my diy made battery pack with arduino or esp32, but it simply don't stay on for more than 1 minute. any thoughts?

Thanks for taking time to watch my video and post a comment! My first suggestion would be to check the data sheet for the item that you purchased. For example, on the TP4056 (I think that is the right part number) that I have used in several videos there are details in the data sheet that explains what resistors can be added to adjust performance for different batteries. I hope that helps.

@@DialedInDIY I have purchased the exact item you are talking about in this video, the charging module with the screen and usb outputs,,, I see you have not mentioned the part number for this module, neither can I find it anywhere on Amazon where I bought it from.

can you charger the battery 🔋 at the same time charging your phone
@DialedInDIY3 жыл бұрын
That is actually a great question. Here is what I had noted from an article that I read in the past: "It’s generally ok to use this feature, as long as it’s not done frequently. It’s not a good idea to use your device with pass-through charging because it can potentially strain the unit. Power banks should always be fully replenished before you start using it." The article can be found here: www.powerbankexpert.com/can-power-bank-charge-and-discharge-simultaneously/

Hi! Figured I should update you on my ping pong cannon which you helped me with last time. It worked really well, with 160 psi i got 100+ feet easily, and I was 600 feet above the next highest person in my entire class, so thanks for the design!

Hey there... I feel pretty sure I had responded to this before but I may have not made it a public reply (not sure but your message shows up in a list of items I had not replied to... so I thought better safe than sorry). I am so glad you followed up and even more so with your results. Congratulations, that is awesome. I really do appreciate that you took the time to come back with an update.

If you haven't already you should look into the USB 3.0 PD power bank modules. There is a lot of modules on ebay without the led charge indicator display but if you wanted a display there are USB power bank kits you can buy that have nice displays. They are much more powerful than these 2.1 amp modules, almost all of them output at least 20 watts.
@DialedInDIY3 жыл бұрын
That is a great tip... thanks for sharing that. I haven't had a need (or so I thought) for 3.0 yet but with a buck converter the extra watts opens more doors to fun experimenting. I think I will be shopping parts on line this weekend!! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my video and post a reply!

@@DialedInDIY had a few scares with my mom, but we're on the other side. I'm looking into home health care for her, but her and my step-dad are fiercely independent, and its hard to convince either one that there are just some things that they need some help with, and its to be expected in your late 70s and 80s.
