Summer isn't technically over, but after Labor Day, we start getting into the Fall spirit. After spending weeks outside (or, in my case, airbrush tanning), your body may need a detox - which is why DIY body scrubs are so popular! They're a cinch to make, but the downside is that they can make a major mess in your shower. (Coffee beans are great for firming and toning, but they take over your tub!) So I tried this yesterday and it worked. To all that say that the soap didn't melt it doesn't even have to be all the way. I used Dove from Wal-Mart and it did melt fully I used a regular ice cube tray and put them in the freezer over night and used one in the morning. I was hella soft! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

i made these and they worked so well instead of using almond oil i used coconut oil and i used dove to and i love this scrub it work so well my skin hase never been more clean and smooth and soft it wonderful just the one problem i have with this is that my ice cube tray is so small mine only last me 1 shower im going to try a small cupcake pan thanks for the amazing recipe its sooooooooooooooooooo simple

i really liked this and it worked quite well, but each cube only lasted me one shower, though i used it for arms and legs. I'm a night shower person and i made my first batch at about 7:00 pm. i read the comments and saw that many people's scrubs fell apart, so i got paranoid and i just froze it for 3 hours, after i popped them out. when i took them upstairs to take a shower, i used one cube and by the time i had dried my hair they were starting to melt so i advise you keep them in the freezer and only take them out when you need one

If. You don't have an ice cube you could just roll it into a tight ball, put it on wax paper, and then put it in the frezzer. Don't know how long tho mines are still in there

Barb Barnes-Dickerson baby oil has mineral oil in it , which is not good. It is a petroleum bi-product that causes disease and clogs pours.

No it doesn't matter it might be harder to pop but to make it easier cover the tray with your hand and put hot water then just put it upside down and knock it till it pop

yeah you can use a normal tray but a silicone is easier to pop out the cubes

Yes, just put a little oil in each section to help get them out. It won't harm your finished product. Another suggestion, if you have old wax melt containers, you could clean them up good, fill them up, and break the air seal to get them out.

Sarah K Coconut oil is fine, generally you can use any oil as a substitute. Coconute oil would be a better option in my opinion.

michaela graceee Castor oil lifts everything from your pores which is good as a cleanser but it also dries the skin out so you can use Castor oil with a mixture of a moisturizing oil.

Yeah sugar works best for a pre shower scrub as it melts with water. try replacing it with coffee!

I make all types of scrubs with sugar sll the time for the past 2 years and I haven't had any problems. If you already have problems with ants, though, maybe cover it up or something

Great question! I haven't experienced this, but sugar is involved... so possibly. If you have this issue at your home with sugar in your cupboard, you could have the same problem.

I made some last year that I still have! It really does depend on the ratio of oil and soap. When in doubt, USE MORE SOAP! If they're too runny, they won't set.

Ok I tried 3 diff kinds of soap and it DOES NOT MELT. how ridiculous. Actually I tried a double boiler and tried melting in the microwave. Beware people it doesn't work with store bought soap. I should have done my research first before trying this recipe. Now I know that these kinds of commercial soaps are more like detergents and not soap! I went and bought some melt and pour soap base which will work much better. I needed some anyways for a different diy I'm also making. Ugh wish I would've known this before making a mess in my kitchen and wasting over an hour trying to melt stupid soap and grating it
