Pretty slick idea and I like its final use. Just a thought, if you cut off two sides of the square plate it is mounted to you will be able to store it in most shop drawers and it could still be clamped in the vice. Thanks for taking the time to post.

I was surprised to see a mime in a metalworking tutorial! Clever idea, and impressive freehand machining accuracy. The clamping application at the end is a great way to utilize scrap steel banding. Thanks.

Where do I begin to comment? Absolutely genius application of shop skills; the welding and oh, the grinder work to make that forming post! Wow! Last but not least, that background music track was great listening to, not too loud, not distracting.
@JacobBerry-lo3bm9 ай бұрын
Freaking Genius! That was cool to watch! That has to be very satisfying, having the ability to make your tool rather than having to leave the shop to go buy one that probably wouldn’t even be as functional / durable. It’s a pleasure to watch people work who know their trade like that. Thanks for sharing that knowledge and your idea , kind sir!

Great collection of tools and creative generation of new ones. Awesome workmanship. neat hands. God bless you! Thanks for the video. Few weeks back I struggled with 4mm GI wire for rcc slab. I wish I had this tool. managed with a 4mm cut in small wood block and plier, rather crude way

Not sure why anyone would dislike. The build is simple, clever, inexpensive, scalable to larger sizes, compact and quick to fabricate. Okay fine, you can't use it to fly to Mars. I concede.

I have seen loads of tools for bending. Most have bearing in them. This is just class using a nut and bolt as you have. Top idea. love it.

Great little tool very clever.My 2 cents is to invest in some metal cutting paste for thread cutting,makes it heaps easier and preserves taps and dies.I'm a huge fan of Rocol products,cheers

lol...Thought the piece of rod you were bending was a demonstration of 'just bending'.... but turned out that was just as cool 'a' gadget as the bender - Top work :)

great if you want to make your own chain. next step is to weld each segment loop closed and heat treat the chain until its tempered steel. Having this tool looks like a fun way to spend some time making chains of a certain type.
@ckmoore1013 жыл бұрын
Even the bent steel was an ingenious homemade tool itself. Nicely done.
Rigid tubing benders that are slightly modified to allow a greater range of bends work great, for instrument fitting and steam tracing.

Pretty nice bender, but I watched the rod slip through the slot as it was being bent - if you need to keep pretty close dimensions that is not going to work. You would have to clamp the rod in the slot somehow first. I've made a lot of little crankshafts for my engines and this is something I had to overcome to keep the dimensions correct.

@BigAdventureBikes2 жыл бұрын
Would you be able to make one of these for me? I really need it for a project. I already broke a tube bender trying to get some tight bends on some 4mm stainless rod. I cant find any other benders that can do the tighter bends other than the small ones that are meant for thin tube.
