Although your reasoning behind using a bit hobble makes sense, the mouthpiece on your demonstration bit is horribly thin. I strongly recommend against ever putting that bit in a horse's mouth.

This is indeed a tiny twisted wire snaffle. I used it because I needed a bit for the video and this one wasn't currently on a headstall. It hasn't been ridden in a few years now. While I agree that this bit has the potential to be severe, it also has the potential to be just the right tool in the right hands. There definitely is a level of horseman that can get along with a bit like this with no ill effects. Check out our other videos on bits if you really do want to learn more about such things.

That is one nasty bit. It is very very thin which makes it a much stronger bit and judging from your intro video it does not look like you have the lightest of hands.

This is indeed a tiny twisted wire bit. As the bit itself wasn't the point of the video, I grabbed one that wasn't on a headstall. In other words, this bit hasn't been ridden in several years. I agree that you should have to have a license or pass a test to use something like this, but it can be a great tool in the right hands. Loads of horses have told me that my hands meet that standard. Hopefully, one day I'll be good enough to meet your standard. I always check out the channels of those who post comments like this one. It is pretty amazing how green some riders are yet they want to critique highly accomplished horsemen. While I didn't find any video of you handling a horse, clearly, we see the world in very different ways. Nice to live in a world where that's possible and all it amounted to was a disrespectful comment. While the feeling in my hands is very good, my personal feelings are pretty tough. Enjoy the rest of your day.

If you actually do want to know more about bits, according to my research and things like "likes to total views ratios" and "dislikes per total views ratios", you've found one of the very best resources on that information on the web. We've got hours of video that you apparently have not watched. You should check those out. You just may find your assumptions to be very far off the mark.

Daniel Dauphin hey bud, I mean no disrespect. Thank you for replying and clearing that up, you really get a lot of oukes out there that don't realize the strength of their own hands and I do see it daily. However judging my KZbin is not a very sufficient way to judge my riding skill. If you put yourself out there you need to be prepared to get some or other critic.

Daniel Dauphin I also went and checked out some of your other videos and found some of the info you gave to be quite generous and helpful and although I am not at all western oriented (mainly because my country does not really have western as a option). I do apologize, my comment was not as researched as much as I should have duly noted.
