Thanks for the 30' jig. I use a sidegrinder and 80 Grit flapper. I have two sets of three blades so it's real easy to just switch with a floorjack and two jackstands on a 54" BadBoy ZT. ( It takes about 20 minutes + probably because I"m 76 yrs old ) I switch, sharpen and balance them every 2 months or so, - rocks just seem to pop out of the ground around this part of Texas because there is so much clay. Thanks again.

No problem, I'm glad I could help 😊 Sounds like your still making good time with your age as well! I also do about 2-3 months sharpening as long as I got time. Stones and branches from thick wooded areas beat up my blades 😆 Take care and thanks for watching!

That does make a nice grind.

Yes it does! Faster and no guess work. Thanks for watching!

I've never "balanced" my blade. A Dremel tool helps a lot and some quality files. I also use a flat block w/ sand paper. I finish with a DMT file and/ or a whetstone, which is probably around 1000K. I get mine close to pocket knife sharp.

That would get it mighty sharp and smooth! Grass slayer! 😆

I do something similar but go against the edge with the stone.

Does the guard get in the way or is yours off?

@@behemuthsgarage4454 Basically I have a piece of additional metal on the tool rest of my grinder. The blade sits at the correct angle on the stop. I move it back and forth left to right against the grind wheel. It works great if the blade doesn't have some sort of funky drastic curve to it.

Ooh got ya, I was thinkin about using it that way too at first. Thanks for the reply! 🙂

Lawn mower mechanic told me. The blade only cuts grass on the first 2 inches of the blade.
@behemuthsgarage44548 ай бұрын
Yes that's what does most of the cutting

wow,,,grinding with the edge of the grindstone?? and whats that wooden jig all about?? Waste of time for sure. Your grass wont know if all the angles are perfect. Grab a file or an electric grinder and put the blade in a vice and zip it out in two min,,,,no need for all of this foolshness,,,
@behemuthsgarage44548 ай бұрын
Nope not 'needed' at all. I did it that way for years to with just a grinder. No the grass doesn't know, but I notice, cutting speed, engine working harder, burning more gas etc. It was also made to help someone who can't do it correctly with just a handheld grinder, not for me. Thanks for watching
