Cheers for the mention X2! Great job on these Dean, they'll work great. The bought ones are all loosey goosey and leak air like no tomorrow!

Thanks Keith! I’ve given them a try and they do a marvellous job! Looking forward to finishing the system later in the week 😊

I find it hard to understand why anyone would buy these rather than make them, but it takes all sorts! Great job! 👍🏼

Dunno, save time maybe? From what I hear they don’t work brilliantly though but like anything I imagine there are super duper expensive ones that work well and made for big shops

Pretty much identical to mine Dean, 6mm ply for the slide with KB wax, but I used 15mm MFC as I had a few offcuts. Like you I'm very happy with it, so much easier than moving the vac hose back & forth between tools 👍.

Nice job Dean, looks like you have a good seal on those - I'm hoping for a follow up to show how you hook all the pipework up and what the end efficiency is like - pretty please? 😁 Also looks like the usual quality B&Q ply with voids all over the place. When I watch the American workshop channels with their million-dollar tool collections and their immaculate 3/4" birch ply my heart sinks, but you always show the art of the possible with the budget stuff we get palmed off with in the UK. Keep up the cracking work mate 👍
@WoodworkJourney2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lex, I’ll absolutely be making a video covering the whole system once I’ve got the cheap hose that I’m waiting for, hopefully next week that will be out. The ply was actually a bit of free offcut that I got from a local wood yard when I bought something else. It’s by no means decent ply as you saw, but it goes to show that you can make stuff out of any old stuff 😁

@@WoodworkJourney Excellent news, thanks Dean. I must go raid the deepest recesses of my garage. Once I've cleared away the cobwebs. And avoided the poison arrow traps and huge rolling boulders. Now, where did I put my bullwhip and hat?

Hi Dean, many thanks for the video. Been following your journey and really like your content. Just a quick question, do you find that the numatic has enough suction?
@WoodworkJourney2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It does the job reasonably well, but I don’t have anything to compare it to. I would love to upgrade to something maybe with more power but more importantly HEPA filters, can’t afford that so making the best of what I’ve got (the Numatic was a Facebook marketplace bargain)
@WoodworkJourney2 жыл бұрын
The addition of the pipework and blast gates hasn’t made it any worse though
@jackofalltradesdiy64762 жыл бұрын
@@WoodworkJourney excellent I didn't know how a vac would compare to a dust extractor but I have roughly the same length of piping as shown in your KZbin shorts. Nice job mate!
@GrumpysWorkshop42 жыл бұрын
Easy to make & should do the job. The fact they are stiff is probably a good thing. Too loose & they wouldn't stay in desired position
@WoodworkJourney2 жыл бұрын
I think the suction would help, but I agree a snug fit minimises issues

One word of warning: there was a slight tendency for the Forstner drill to snatch and make the block spin dangerously. Hold it very firmly or find a way to clamp it. I found it worst with the drill on its slowest setting, presumably because the torque is greatest at that setting.
