Hello Sir, I've just completed my rear drum brake job. I'm thrilled. You were the engine that helped and pushed me to do it. In the beginning, it seemed daunting, and if something went wrong, I was apprehensive in knowing what to do. I didn't renew the brake shoes, that wasn't the problem. The problem was that the brakes weren't releasing after overnight parking. I assumed something had seized. In the process of refitting the shoes, I caught the cylinder seal and a little fluid seaped out. I've just bled that cylinder and all went great. In future, I won't be afraid of having a look because I now have the confidence to go forward. That's all down to you, my friend. Sleep well tonight Sir. I am one of the many people you've helped. Thank you, and Godbless you. Ps. I've just watched it again. Straight, to the point, is easy to follow. Genius, my friend. You should be in Hollywood with films like that! 😉.

What I usually do is have someone press the brake fully, with system closed, then I open the valve quickly and reclose it, so no air enters the system. How would this damage seals? Isn't this what happens when you brake normally in the car? Or do you mean it would damage seals if someone pressed the brake fully while the valve was open?

I had a first today. I replaced a rear cylinder on my truck and had someone pump the brakes while I bled them. 3 pumps and hold, I loosened the bleeder valve, brakes did not go to the bottom nor did any fluid come out. Finally on third try, a "little" fluid came out. Brakes did not go to bottom. Tried 5 or 6 times, a little more fluid came out but brakes never went to the bottom. Drove it and brakes feel a little spongy. I have never heard of the brakes not going the bottom when the valve is opened. Thanks for some ideas,
