Wes, I'm 73 and have most of the tools to build this console but lack your incredible skills. I watched the entire video and read all of the comments and just wanted to tell you that you are the kindest, professional woodworker I have ever encountered in my life. I'm still tempted to try building it because I need one of these. Thanks again for entertaining us so well.
@zianeshkasparen43589 ай бұрын
Naaaah. You do not lack the skill. You just start and build your skills and confidance. A mistake is the opporrunity to grow. I am 45 years old lady and do not have 10% of what this man has and learned to work around it. *SIR: YOU CAN TOO.*

You can do it! I started wood working at 31, and by 34 i could build this. I never considered myself knowledgeable in anyway with woodworking but it comes fast if you have the interest.

Wes, your speech diction is just broadcaster quality! I greatly appreciate your voice as I can clearly understand EVERY syllable of every word as you go along. That may seem silly but there's a lot of hearing impaired old guys out there, like me. Also, what about the expansion and contraction of the wood with the way you glued and nailed everything solid across the grain? Won't it split on ya someday? Hope the sides and top expand and contract in unison.

Wes, you have made an exceptional video. I greatly identify with and appreciate the double-stack of commercial-grade, solid core, wood doors you are implementing as a work bench. I have reached my limit with craftsmen flaunting 8,000 dollar work tables on YT. It’s fun to dream, but the actual accomplishments are more typically made with the kind of creativity and intelligent design you demonstrate here. That is a beautiful piece you have created. Thank you for freely demonstrating how others may replicate your work.

11:28 Wes I love your work. But watching your hands right over the blades gives me chills. I realize it’s a great depth under the boards, but it’s always best to stay in practice of being away from the blades. Every dado cut you showed on this video your hand was directly over the blade. I enjoy seeing your projects and don’t want to see you get hurt. If you did 10 dado cuts this way, and then a standard cut, that’s when accidents happen. Stay in practice of avoiding the blades every time

The only thing that would critique is I would not use paper towels for final wiping off the stain they will leave lint or fibers in the stain. I would have used lint free rags that are made for stain only. And also have used a brush for final coat with a small nap weeny roller. Other than that looks awesome thank you for your videos. Awesome build.

Love this project, Wes! The white stain is beautiful on that pine. It is always sad to see wood grain painted over. I wish you needed a T.V. wall cabinet. I have a 43 inch T.V. that I rarely watch and would love to hide it in a cabinet with bifold doors. I would like a floating Mantle-like shelf below it with a drawer to hold remotes, my reading glasses and the old blue-ray player or grandkid's game console. The bottom part of your console has me thinking, hmm. Living in a small home, I need it up off the floor so I can put my grandmother's beautiful cedar chest underneath. Ballard Designs has a cabinet, but I can't fork over $500 plus delivery fees. Beautiful job, as always! Thank you for sharing your talent.

I would like to do something similar but I am only using it for heavy audio components. I would like to have a center brace, so instead of an open top cavity I plan on having a support brace running up the center of the console. It’s probably going to take me a few tries to get the length perfect for the top brace/separator.

I love how you show a nice online piece of furniture including the price, and then build a beautiful version of it yourself! Listing how much the wood costs is also a great feature of your videos. While I don't have any tools or the knowhow to build something like this I really appreciate it. I think with some minimal tools this can be made at an affordable price. That was sticker shock for sure when I saw that 800 dollar price. Knowing this can be built for around 125 dollars really does put things into perspective. Even if a few mistakes are made you can still build this for way less than they wanted.
