I love the idea of using a paint brush to smear on the paint and then a roller to roll the paint out evenly. AWESOME!!! The cabinet work looks great, you did a very good job, I love it. ❤❤❤

Hi Deborah, this is truly stunning....I love it and you should feel so proud of what you have achieved in your beautiful room. Like you, I can't wait to see you decorate it over Christmas, it will look amazing. I prefer the new choice of colour too! Deborah as I'm about to paint my kitchen, can I ask what colour your kitchen cupboards are please? XX

Thank you so much Simone! I love it now. My kitchen is painted in Farrow and Ball Cornforth White. I love off white colours. My kitchen needs touching up in places but it’s not bad at all 4 years later! 😍

@@LivinganOrganisedLife Wow 4 years have passed already .... omg where does time go. Thank you I'm going to try and source that paint, hopefully they sell it here in Australia. My kitchen cupboards are in terrible need of painting, so wish me luck, or do you want to come Down Under and help me LOL xx

Hi Deborah! Love you desk bookshelf creation! I would love to know which Ikea cabinet and drawers you used for the bottom! Thank you

Hi Larissa, thank you! I used Malm drawers and Smastad cabinets with Platsa doors at the bottom. Are you planning to do something similar? 😊

Beautiful! I want to make a built-in shelving on top of my daughter's desk, and I came to the same idea of using these shorter Billy bookcases to do that. But since the bookcases will hold some books, I am a bit anxious. I am trying to figure out how exactly I should secure them to the wall to make sure they don't fall. How did you do it?

Thank you Monika. The shelves come with 2 L shaped brackets to anchor them to the wall. I used 2 on each bookcase and you can’t see them as they are high up on top. The bookcases are not going anywhere! Good luck with your project xx

Hi, this looks really great - I love what you have done. I am looking to build a similar setup for my home office, using 2 of the Platsa cabinets you have used with a 2.2m worktop, which will be fairly heavy (approx 22kg). I’d love to recreate what you have done but obviously want to avoid it collapsing under its own weight, do you think the Platsa units would be strong enough to support the worktop on their own? Many thanks in advance!

Hi Dan, I’m not sure it would to be honest. I don’t think the Platsa units would be substantial enough on their own. Could you perhaps put a 2x4 on the wall behind it to take some of the weight?

@@LivinganOrganisedLife Thanks for the reply, I thought that may be the case but it is hard to tell without seeing them in person. The space where the desk is going is in an alcove which is 2.2m wide, and I’ve found a beautiful worktop with a live edge that will fit the space perfectly so I am determined to try and work something out :) As the desk will be pretty much be touching 3 walls, my plan B currently is to get some heavy duty brackets on all sides to create a bit of a floating desk situation. But it would be a shame to miss out on the more built in look, what you have been able to do was just what I had in mind originally. Appreciate your advice, thank you

Perhaps you could add some metal braces to the unit to strengthen it? Will there be a gap behind the unit at all? You could put a short 2 x 4 behind perhaps. Have a look at this link which gives ideas on how to strengthen IKEA furniture www.hunker.com/13404000/how-to-reinforce-ikea-furniture

@@LivinganOrganisedLife There will be a small 2cm gap at either end and I have space to leave a gap behind if needed. A mounted 2x4 is definitely something I am considering, maybe on all 3 sides. Thanks again for all the great advice!
