When I saw the sponges I was nervous (the 90s) but it looks so cool! I never would have thought to do that. The whole room is gorgeous!

I like the sponge idea,!….good work on not over engineering everything too! Wood and timber locks will hold thousands of pounds.

Really the best option to make the room bigger. well done. Just one small but important detail, the steps of the ladder need to readjust the high. That last one is to high, shouldt be at the same level of the bed, to make the climbing easier. Please tell me if i am wrong. congratulations for your work.

Thanks for the tip. I want to redo the ladder into a possible staircase as the loft is a popular attraction for younger visitors.

Awesome! Exactly the idea I had for my boys bedroom. One question, have you noticed any ventilation issues with the mattress sitting flat on the loft?
@lauriepayseur5897 Жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. I would likely buy the slatted system like at IKEA or somethings like that. We sleep hot and that can cause mold to grow. But GREAT BUILD IDEAS

This is such a creative and fun space for your l.o!! I’m definitely gonna try this out, I saw a loft bed I really liked at pottery barn but it was over $2500! Your video is giving me the confidence to try and build it myself 💕🙏🏼

In this case, would a window guard be needed, or does your kid not fit through the space? I'm asking bc I would like to imitate this and I too have a window that might block some of the projects. Would you suggest a window guard or does it not affect the space and safety?
@heathercammack16562 жыл бұрын
She wouldn't fit through the space, so it hasn't been an issue for us. That's a good point though if you have a larger window.

Heather, I love this bed. Can you tell me what the width of your room is? I'm trying to figure out if I need bigger timber for the span. Thank you Sarah

How wide is the room? Looking to do something similar for my son but wasn’t sure if a center post/ ladder would be needed .
@heathercammack16562 жыл бұрын
The room is about 11ft, but also my daughter on the top bunk is a small 6yr old so the support is adequate for her. You can upgrade to a 2x6 or even 2x8
@GBernhardt134 ай бұрын
How did it hold up to time? With the weight of the girls on and off? The live load, did you end up with any sagging? We are looking to do the same in my son’s room but it’s an 11’ span
@heathercammack16562 ай бұрын
It never sagged and held up well, but if I was to do it again I would use 2x6 lumber.

I dont know how long those nails can hold the whole bed. I would build atleast two pillars for extra support
@heathercammack165610 ай бұрын
The screws held perfectly. If this was made to hold adults extra support may be necessary. I just took the bed down as we are moving kids around and this bed was a beast to take apart. It was still very solid after two years of use.

Absolutely beautiful! You could give them more room by not having such a big bed underneath - does a small child really need such a big bed, particularly in such a small room shared with a sibling? Where do they put all their stuff? I'm not sure if it's an American thing, but I was in single bed until my early 20s. My 14 year old is finding a single bed a bit cramped now, so we'll look at getting a double.. I really like the patterning on the wall too :)
@heathercammack16562 жыл бұрын
This doubles as our guest room so we need the queen bed.
