DIY BURLAP PLACEMATS WITH IRON ON/HTV USING CRICUT

In this video I share how to make burlap placemats from a burlap runner. I add iron on/HTV to the burlap to make it perfect for Thanksgiving!

Unroll the burlap and iron out the lumps and wrinkles. I used spray starch in the can. I clipped them to my clothes line and sprayed away. They were stiff once they dried with no wrinkles in sight. :)

I cut out the burlap and paint the glue mixture or mod podge on with a brush.

The placemats are great! The only thing I think may work is try in liquid starch instead in a spray bottle. I got at walmart for maybe .99 cents idk super cheap though. I had a thick linen table cloth i could never get the wrinkles out so my MIL took it put it in a garbage bag sprayed it so it was pretty damp not soaked let it set overnight then ironed the next day while it was still damp and it came out beautiful and crisp.

Use fray check. That stops it from unraveling

What if you pre-cut the burlap and soaked the pieces flat in a rectangular Tupperware?

That’s a really good idea! With how I bunched up all the burlap I bet that caused it to get all wrinkled. Pre-cutting it and stabilizing it with it flat I bet would work well! :)

i just used my regular iron on high when i made my burlap cutlery holder video it worked for me because my burlap came in a roll and i needed it flat

Steam iron them, my wrinkles came right out, and also burlap layer flat. I never used any glue at all. Cute placemats. I used farm animal stencils.

There is a video how to get wrinkles out just by using an Iron and water, but I think since you stiffened it the way you did u might not get the wrinkles out. Might have been better to use a stiffener which I am just assuming is a spray maybe after you cut the runner. Hope that made cense. Good Idea thou I have a lot of burlap from a wedding reception and have been wondering what to do with it.

Kayla, I love your video on flourishing some of your characters in a word,utilizing Character Map; however, following your instructions to a "t", I can copy from Character Map; however, my "paste" button in Design Space is not accessible, nor will Ctrl V work to paste the character into Design Space. Help.

Hi! Sorry I missed your comment. I’m not sure why the Ctrl V wouldn’t be working :( that is still working for me. Maybe try closing design space and reopening it. Were you able to get it to work?
