Love pattern can you tell me how to increase size to fit 18x18 cushion
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
Sure! To scale it up to an 18" pillow, I would add 3 stitches to each side. So when casting on, cast on 50 stitches, then instead of starting and ending with Purl 9, you would start and end with Purl 12. Lastly I would knit until it measures 37" instead of 34".
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
@laura roberts Hi Laura - I would recommend counting the number of stitches in each section to determine which one has one stitch too many. You should have 9 purl stitches, 9 knit stitches, 8 purl stitches, 9 knit stitches, and then 9 purl stitches (or the opposite depending on which way you are looking at your work). To determine if it is a purl stitch, look just below the knitting needle, if there is a bump, thats a purl stitch, if there is a flat v that is a knit stitch. Let me know which section the extra stitch is in - and I can tell you a way to fix it!

Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering if this pattern could be modified to be 3 cables instead of 2 and to fit an 18" pillow form?
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you could definitely do that! I would cast on 49 stitches, then do P6, Knit 9 (Cable), P5, Knit 9 (Cable), P5, Knit 9 (Cable), P6 - hope that helps!

Loved the pattern so much!! Could You please tell me if can i do it without cable needles? (Actually if can i do it with normal needles) thanks
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
So glad you liked it! It can be a little tricky to do without a cable needle. In place of a cable needle you could use a double pointed needle if you have one. Alternatively there is a way to cable without a cable needle, where you just let the stitches hang off the needle - it is a bit trickier, but can be done! This is a great video showing that technique: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmHXe6mmichkhZo

How would you change this for a 12x16 pillow cover? Maybe with one cable going side to side?
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
To make it 12" wide with one center cable instead of 16" I would switch the pattern to be 12 stitches on either side of the center cable. To change the pattern to match this, it would read: Row 1:P12, K8, P12 Row 2 would be K12, P8, K12 . . . Row 5: P12, Left Cable, K3, P12 I hope that helps!
@tammyr.38824 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I am having so much trouble with this. I've ripped it out about 15 times lol. I'm using #6 yarn that suggests 8mm needle. Your yarn doesn't look as bulky. I'm a new knitter so my mistakes are frequent :) thank you so much
@HandiworksbyClyne3 жыл бұрын
I totally love this!!! Can I knit this using bulky cotton? But I think bulky cotton will stretch out in time?
@KnittingHouseSquare3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could definitely knit it out of cotton! I wouldn't worry too much about stretching over time. I keep mine on our living room couch and the yarn I used has stretched out a bit, but the nice thing is you can tighten it up by adjusting which cable the button goes through!

Hi there. I bought Bernat yarn #6 which requires an 8mm needle. Mine is measuring 19 inches wide. Too large for a 16 x 16 pillow. Am I doing something wrong?
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
Hi - no you are likely doing everything right - just different knitters knit with different yarn tensions which creates variations in size! Based off of the dimensions you are getting - I would recommend casting on fewer stitches to get your yarn and needles down to 16". I would remove 2 stitches in each of the non-cable sections so then you have a total of 38 stitches instead of 44. The rows would be modified as follows: Row 1: P7, K9, P6, K9, P7 Row 2: K7, P9, K6, P9, K7 . . . Row 5: P7, Left Cable, K3, P6, Left Cable, K3, P7

Can any type of Soft chunky yarn work well or must it be the Barnet Soft Chunky ? I am struggling to source it ! Can you recommend any alternative brands of yarn that work as well ?
@KnittingHouseSquare3 жыл бұрын
Hi - Any type of soft chunky yarn would work! You just want to look for one that is labeled as a Super Bulky Yarn (#6) and recommends around a US 13 (9 mm). A few popular ones are Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick, or Bernat Blanket!

How many stitches for 8mm needle
@KnittingHouseSquare4 жыл бұрын
Hi! it depends what you knitting gauge is when knitting with your yarn and needles. I would recommend knitting a small swatch - cast on 12 or so stitches and knit for about 4". Then measure how wide the 12 stitches are. Once you know 10 stitches = X", it can be scaled up to the pillow size of X stitches = 16". Hope that helps!
