The paintjob held up really well, there was some flaking and scratching along the bottom from being dragged though, I wouldn't change anything that I done.

Just won a Kayak recently. Good 10foot craft, but the color is crap. Red, white and blue, not good, as I am Irish. So it will be gettin a paint job. Like what you done to yours, so might do somethin similar.. Cheers mate.. Regards Jack from Ireland

Fyi, you have to recoat the prime coat within 25 min but you can wait 24hr for the bonding primer to cure fully before your top coat. I have done both ways. Recoating immediately peeled wereas my 24hr cure had no peeling...

@@GodSpeed-uv2in sure, When you are painting. Just as shown in the video following the steps. When applying coats of paint you must follow two strict protocols. A: (quick method) Apply a thin primer layer as coat 1. Wait about 5 minutes. Apply another thin primer layer. Repeat until surface has total coverage of primer. !!Wait no more than 20 min!! Apply thin layer of top coat spray Wait 5 minutes. Apply thin layer of top coat spray Wait 5 minutes. Apply final coat of top coat spray !!waiting no more than 20 min!! Apply final matt clear coat in VERY thin misted layer. Hold clear coat nozel on stopping only once can has cleared the surface to provide best clear coat

@@GodSpeed-uv2in Method B: Instead of painting within 20 min of each prior coat type. You let each layer.. primer, top coat and clear coat dry for 24 to 48 hours beforehand. Then paint.

How has paint job on kayak held up

Shaun Sanson it held up pretty well, there has been some chipping as expected. Paint is not designed to adhere to the plastics that kayaks are made from. A little touch up paint and you’re good to go again.

It will rub off over time depending on how heavily they are used.

I used heavy grit to prevent scratches tearing the paint. scored heavily the paint sits in the groves not on the survace. But regardless no matter what a good rock will scratch anything...
