Thank you for going into depth on this install. I'm about to purchase one of these kits and didn't really understand how you actually wire it into the van so you can use it! This video really helps!

Does it charge the van's starter battery if main battery is full? And can you do like timed outputs? So shut off dc output 3 in 20minutes. Or turn it on between a certain time

How has the 4kw unit done on this van? Does it seem to enough power?
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 7 ай бұрын
The 4kw seems to be plenty for this van minus the A/C unit. We don’t run electric hot water or cooktop in this van so it’s plenty. And to run A/C consistently, you would need upwards of 10kw

This a 48 volt system. Yes or no. If it is you glossed over a few things.
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 2 ай бұрын
Yes it is a 48v system. This video could have gone on for hours if I wanted to cover every spec and little detail. It being a 48v system has no affect on the user. It still releases a 12v output.
@anyalpine
@anyalpine Жыл бұрын
Via the interface you showed it looked like you have to choose either 12v or 24v for all circuits instead of selecting individually for each. Also, I thought it would have 48v as an option since its a 48v system. If I want to put my fridge on a 24v circuit and my lighting on 12v is that an option with the distribution panel?
@somedayvans6653

The van is out on rental this weekend so I can't confirm but I think you are right. I'm pretty sure you cannot set individual circuits to different voltages.

How did you hook up to the alternator charging? Did you use the CCP? If so, how did you get the 80 amp output down to 60 amps?
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
I think on this one we connected to the jumper cable connection terminal under the hood. Typically the load side is what determines the amount of amps flowing through the cable, not the line. So it should only pull 60 amps since that’s what the ecoflow accepts even though more amperage would be available.

Is a 10 KWh system really needed on a van? And then not to distant past. Many people just had a couple AGM batteries. I would imagine 5kWh system would be enough

Wondering what the warranty is with this system. All these all in one units they all seem to be unrepairable after the they are out of warranty. Learned the hard way with my Bluetti. Two months out of warranty…no way to have it fixed!
@somedayvans6653

For sure! Definitely a downside to the all in ones. The power kits have a 5 year warranty so much better than many of the other all in ones on the market.

What has your experience been with noise level? I have heard people report the system is loud due to its cooling fans.
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
Yes it is loud. But it only is running at faster speeds when you are taxing the system a lot so while you are driving or plugged into shore power. And once the batteries are full the fans quit. Definitely a complaint but in my opinion a small price to pay for the added benefits.

wonder how tough/possible it would be to re-size the cables. seems like a drawback to a pre made kit is you always end up with wires either too long or short.
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 2 ай бұрын
You can shorten lengths of all the cables except the battery cables, which are only 6’ But for most people it would be best to leave the extra cable in the wall so that you are not crimping on your own terminal connectors.

How did you snake the ecoflow cable from under the driver's side to the passenger side? Go under the floor or?
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 10 ай бұрын
For the alternator cable we drilled through the floor and routed it under the van up to the engine compartment. For all the other wiring we go up over the ceiling and back down the other wall. Does that answer your question?

Great video! I just purchased the 5k kit. What gauge wire is recommended for each AC and DC side of the panel going out through the van?
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
A/C side- For standard 20 amp circuits we use 12 gauge triplex marine wire. For 30 amp circuits (Air Conditioner) we use 10 gauge triplex marine wire. I like to buy from wireandcableyourway.com D/C side- For standard 15 amp circuits we use 14 gauge duplex marine wire. For anything bigger (12v Air conditioner, high powered exterior lighting, etc.) you would go up in wire size as needed. Hope that helps!

Hello there. what kind of solar gland did you use the cables won’t go through the one I bought as the connectors are attached. Thank you so much
@mjeanes4244
@mjeanes4244 Жыл бұрын
I could only find a basic solar gland. The cable that eco flow provides has the female and male connectors attached at one end and a plug on other end and they wont go through the solar gland holes to connect to the solar panels. 😞
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
We typically crimp our own mc4 (solar) connectors on so we actually cut off the provided ends and then crimp new ones on. It only takes a minute. There are some cable entry boxes out there that have mc4 connectors built in instead of having a rubber sleeve that goes around the cable.

How long can you run an RTX 2000 ac with the 10kWh?
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
The DC output of the ecoflow is capped at 70 amps so I wouldn’t recommend running any 12 volt AC units with this kit, you will be maxing out that output capacity. If you were able to do it, it would last around 20 hours of nonstop use.
@ehcropydoc
@ehcropydoc Жыл бұрын
@@somedayvans6653 The RTX 2000 runs at a max 58 amps. So surely we will be fine?
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
@@ehcropydoc I’m sure if would work, but your other 12v loads will easily put you over the limit so you would need to be aware of that. (Fan, lights, fridge, water pump, etc.)

PSA. Eco Flow ruined our van build. Full nitemare since day 1. Had to spend 15K to rip up van and remove the system after multiple failures and battery warranties. Their customer service will not help you
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
Wow! That’s not good. I know there have been complaints with them being buggy, and not having the best customer support but we have had good luck with them so far. We have had small bug issues but always solved with a firmware update. Hopefully they continue to improve these kits, there is no alternative on the market that installs this easy and has all the functionality of the high end systems.

I understand that every situation varies, but in normal van builds, the electrical is usually accessible and relatively easy to be worked on (from a location standpoint) May I ask why you had to rip up the van? Just so that I can avoid this potential catastrophe

Too bad you can't hook up an Nomadic 12V A/C Unit !
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 Жыл бұрын
For sure! You could run a dometic 12v A/C but you would be pretty much maxing out your 12v output and not leaving much capacity left for other 12v appliances running at the same time. For the price difference between the nomadic unit and a smaller 110 unit, you could add 5kw of battery to your system and use a 110 A/C for about the same price as the nomadic.
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 11 ай бұрын
Also, you can run a 48volt Nomadic A/C unit straight from the third battery plug. That would probably be the best option.

Not being able to run a 12v A/C makes this a hard NO!
@somedayvans6653
@somedayvans6653 11 ай бұрын
You can utilize the 3rd battery plug to run a 48v A/C. Or you could run a 24 volt A/C by adding to the DC in terminals on the distribution panel and adding a fuse to that line. At 24 volts, the ecoflow has a 60 amp output capacity which is sufficient for air conditioning and other DC loads. You would just need all your DC loads to run 24 volts.
