I remember when potato guns were popular, then it went to pumpkin chuckin. Pretty much an oversized potato gun or slingshot
@alexethier40384 жыл бұрын
You should build a "catcher" screen by the road...so the gun can't shoot candy into the street by mistake...maybe a hockey or soccer net or baseball pitching net. And put something on the ground where the kids should stand while you "shoot" for the best chance at catching the candy. Keep in mind there are even smaller kids who can't "catch" at all, and you don't want them to get hit in the face...so have a "side" space for them to stand so you can shoot it into the net and they can go pick it up. (Maybe a bucket or something under the net to catch things so they don't land in the grass).

This should be measured out precisely! Too little space between kid and net, the kid might feel trapped by not being able to get out of the candy aiming at it's face. So make sure it's never thrown too far! And the air blower shouldn't be placed next to people, otherwise it catches all the aerosol and droplets and blows it into the kids face! It's quite the opposite of a safe delivery.

Hysterically funny and a great way to start a day. Very inventive idea, but it seem a bit complicated for a one night event. Where was the hot dog launcher used at baseball parks? How about a Halloween candy hunt? Hide the candy around the neighborhood asking trick and treaters to search for the candy. Thank you for another Holderness classic.

We did essentially the same thing, except using a fire extinguisher rather than a leaf blower. The secret is to put some wadding in behind the projectile. We used a light cloth that took up the entire diameter of the pipe but was light enough to not obstruct the pipe. With this modification you might be able to launch candy halfway down the block. Be sure not to kill any children though. ;)

Our neighborhood is making a shoot, like a long slide, for little bags of candy to be dropped down. MA governor made a ruling of no Trick or Treating in our city, so we may be doing a socially distant Halloween parade and photo stations with Halloween decorations.
@sarahprince24124 жыл бұрын
Well your Governor is stupid as hell as well as a majority of the World’s leaders and the CDC. It’s a damn flu and people need to get over being deathly afraid of it already. We are going to be fine. We need to stop treating this like it’s the plague because it’s not. It’s not even the deadliest thing that we have ever had and yet people want to shut down the world over an AGGRESSIVE FLU!! Even doctors(who are not being paid to claim covid) are saying that it’s an aggressive flu. The only way we are going to get over this faster is by herd immunity. It’s called being exposed and DEALING WITH IT like all the other viruses we have dealt with. We can’t build up a healthy immune system or antibodies to get over viruses faster if we shut down, wear masks or social distance. Most people survive this, the numbers have been altered to seem like it’s much higher which it’s not actually(been proven) and once again it’s the flu. Time for people to stop acting so afraid of this. We have and had WORSE diseases and viruses and we went on with our merry little lives and you know what?? We got through it all because we didn’t do all this moronic crap that we are doing now. There are ALWAYS going to be deaths related to any kind of viruses or diseases but that’s part of life. We can’t be afraid of living and it’s time to get back to normal. Trump is absolutely right regardless of what the idiotic left says. We are only doing this shut down, social distancing and wearing masks because Trump is in office and the left will do anything they can do knock him down. Ask yourself why with no other Presidents have we ever shut down for other deadlier diseases and viruses? You want a list of worse diseases and viruses?? Malaria, smallpox, swine flu, the bubonic plague, tuberculosis, the list goes on and on. Covid has been around since Nov. maybe even earlier says some experts and yet we went on with our lives for 4 months before shutting down. We were fine and the world wasn’t going crazy and we didn’t have the billion of deaths that some so called experts said we were going to have. The only reason why cases(if they are real cases that is) are going up is because we had shut down in the first place. If we had never shut down then we would have developed herd immunity already and I guarantee that everything would have been fine. Covid wouldn’t be in news 24/7. Look at Sweden. They never shut down and their death rate were never extremely high. They developed herd immunity. Time we do the same thing. If people want to wear mask and be afraid forever then they can do it but let the rest of us live our lives and get back to normal. Enough is enough already.
@vallieegirl4 жыл бұрын
This different, but creative. I would just wash my hands, wear gloves and make candy bags. I would tie them to tree branches and let the kids take them off, one at time. I would put a up a sign in the yard asking them to stand apart at a safe distance. You can stand on the porch with a bullhorn to supervise at a distance.

This is a great idea!!! But I might just stick to using a grabber to hand out candy. Someone today gave me the idea to decorate the grabber. Which too me sounds like a cute and safer than this candy launcher. I don't want to hurt anyone and with me I have a feeling chances are high with the candy cannon hahaha.

It's fine- it's 2020, we're used to spectacular fails. Nervous about trading an eye for a mallowmar, but give me time. Two words: "safety glasses." Necessity is the mother of invention. Leave it to Americans (like me) to mechanize trick or treat- brilliant. Thanks for the wonderful, silly content, needed that. :) I'm thinking: yard sale cheap vinyl table cloths in orange and black across the street edge of the lawn, with bags of candy for candy "drive- bys." No propellants. I am making a lawn flag for autumn "Thankful, Grateful, Blessed." I'll need vinyl to waterproof it. :)

So basically, you made a safer version of my potato launcher. That uses hairspray and a striker to shoot potatoes 100’s of feet. So satisfying! Personally, this year I’d rather by my kids their own bag of candy. Not as fun, but way less germs hands touching it.
