It is nice to see something pass the test of time. I remember sitting on the school bus, sixty years ago, making necklaces and friendship bracelets out of square candy wrappers. [For square wrappers, fold sides in to center twice and length of strip into center once. The idea is to have the length twice the width.] Such memories!

People...if you are trying to learn how to make the links and chains..watch a video from the hundreds on youtube that teachs you how to do that...Once youve learned how to make the chains and join them etc...then come back to this one where it actually teaches you how to make a project(wallet) In other words, learn the basics and once youve mastered that come back here for the more advanced project.Good Luck

hi mellison, first of all I love your bags, but I am finding this technique difficult to do. I get to join the 3rd piece and then it goes wrong. and in all videos iv watched, I see people joining 3 and carrying on off the camera. then show us the finished piece. I am very much visual learner, and I am sure I am not the only one in you tube land. could you please make process video of going into detail on how to join make one complete line of them, teach us the wrong way and the right way. then how to join the circle, and so on. I would really much appreciate it, as I would love to make a bag like this for me and my daughter. thank you ginxxx

Everything is easy for me except the "continue to link" part, perhaps she thinks sewing is the trickiest part and I think slowing down the linking would be more helpful. I have all these little links and about to bash my head against a wall.

Kids if you use your mom's expensive sewing sheers from her sewing box on paper, don't be shocked if she gets mad. Buy a pair of cheap scissors that's meant for paper instead.

I laminate each piece for durability. I make Small and Medium with Sunday Newspaper Comic Strip. I use Strong Upholstery Thread to sew Chains together and Sew bottom. I use Velcro for Closure and add a wristlet. Check it out at Artfire.com

The most easiest way is that the side that has multiple layers (and I mean one of the sides of the v shape) do not use make sure the side with only the outside layers is facing the way your soposed to insert the peace and it may be hard to push it in but try to squeeze it through and when it pops through pull the sides through the wrapper simple as that

You would do the same thing, except you don't need to tape anything to the newspaper but you can tape it t make it slightly waterproof, just don't tape anything onto the newspaper.

Nothing, really. The tape just protects the wrappers from wearing over time.
