DIY Carpenter Bee Traps - Do They Work?

I found they will bore into raw pine and cedar, stained pine and cedar, and some pressure treated pine. I you paint under that roof with exterior latex, they won't touch it. I'm going to try your traps because they look very interesting. I'm in SE Louisiana so they come early and stay late. Thanks.

What I found out the hard way was: do not use dill pickle jars. Mason jars are great as well as plain old soda or water bottles. Just tear threads in the hole by rocking the spade bit around in the hole and screw the bottle in. I've caught thousands of them but none in the pickle jars. Peanut butter and honey jars work great too. Just do 4x 4s x4" long. KISS👍😎👌

I used 4x4 cedar and they love the smell. Add a little water with a drop of dish soap. The little suckers drown.

I use my emty water bottles when they are half ways full i put them in the burn barrel!.

I make very simple ones using a chunk of 4x4 and a 12 oz Gatorade bottle. They work great, I bait mine with orange soda
