This is what I’m going through, it’s very expensive and being a first generation farmer I have no clue as to setup a work area. This video help out a lot.

I think every year you will improve your handling system. The steel you buy now will always hold its value. You can make some pretty solid stuff out of posts and lumber too.

Nothing wrong with a bud box your pen may be a little wide though. I find 12x24 works good. You will find that you want to chain your alley top and bottom to keep those panels from spreading. Tee posts are not solid enough to hold that for a full size cow. I just use a 40' round pen 2 12x24 sorting pens and a 12x24 bud box, 18' alley, palp cage, squeeze chute and return them back to the round pen. I can run 40 angus through no problem in about 2 hours.
