This video details the second stage of the restoration and conversion to centre console layout of an old fibreglass speedboat, a Nautiglass V150 runabout.
It details rebuilding the gunwales and foredeck.
BTW when cutting fibreglass with an angle grinder, a diamond tip blade suitable for plastics is recommended, not a metal cutting disk.

BTW when cutting fibreglass with an angle grinder a diamond tip ‘multi material’ blade suitable for plastics is recommended, not a metal cutting disk. While a bit pricey, one blade has lasted the whole project (I got mine from Bunnings for $24.95 Australian dollars www.bunnings.com.au/flexovit-125mm-diamond-multi-blade_p6370870) Always wear appropriate protective clothing. Fibreglass dust is really itchy and very bad for the lungs. If you want to avoid itchy eyes and clogged lungs, a full face mask is recommended.

finally someone actually show how to do the gunwale. I've been looking around on youtube for ages. I've got a 5.5 Haines fiberglass project didn't want to pay thousands of $ just for that part of the boat. awesome tutorial mate.

Is the bow top you cut off a structural part of the bow? I have a bow like that and was wondering if I could do the same thing

I think it did give support but this was replaced by the marine ply to a limited extent but mainly the casting deck frames. I left a lip of the original deck of about 150-200mm to epoxy the marine ply on and then did extra glassing underneath to the hull sides. I’m not an engineer but I think the casting deck bulkheads/ frames provide the additional structural strength. Seems very solid anyway. I’m also adding an anchor well which should give more lateral support where the bow flares also. Without the casting deck some sort of lateral support might be required. Maybe’knees’ joining the bow deck to the sides? Hope this helps? Best wishes for your project.
