thank you so much! I wasn't even aware of ceramic crayons let alone the ability to MAKE THEM! Also, I just love your designs; they are always very clear sighted, simplified and turn out to be absolutely lovely -- stunning,!

You are so kind Diane. I had heard of them, but it was a viewer who wrote to me asking me to do a tutorial on how to use them. That is when I started looking to see how much they cost to purchase and found how expensive they were. The ball started rolling from there for this video. Thanks so much for watching and I appreciate your kind words. Happy potting to you...Ann

Cool techniques. The wax polka dots on the green striped mug made me think they were roses at first. It’s a neat effect.

Walmart always has those circuit sheets in their clearance isle. I've never thought to buy them for this purpose. Great idea.

Thanks as always Ann! Yes supplies are very expensive! I remember when buying Amaco watercolors were $20 they just keep going up! I look forward to trying my creative skills to make my own.

Hey Barbara! You are very welcome. You are right. There are some supplies that I would rather purchase commercially, but when I can cut corners, I try. Thanks so much for watching.

Hey Michele. You are so right. Someone had written me and asked if I would do a tutorial on using them and I had heard of them before but didnt have any in my studio. I looked up the cost to purchase them and found that a box was over $40, so that started the ball rolling with this video. Thanks as always for your support. Jim and I really appreciate you. Cheers...Ann

Hello Anne I was wondering if you could use regular crayola crayons like that patterns
@LittleStreetPottery
@LittleStreetPottery 8 ай бұрын
I have seen people do that but only for resist...the color will burn out. And the resist isnt that great as if you used a good wax resist product.

How many cats of c11 clear do u use over underglazes
@vzeimen
@vzeimen 8 ай бұрын
The studio I work at fires to cone 10 reduction so most of my tries with underglazes don't come out the color I'd like and they don't offer premixed colored slips. I'm ready now to delve into the world of colored slips but don't even know where to start. At first glance the stains seem expensive but I have no idea how much I'll need so if someone could give me an idea of measurements just to give me a jumping off point, I'd really appreciate it. I guess the question is...If I want to make a quart of colored slip, how much mason stain should I add? I do realize that the answer could vary greatly depending on what color I want and how dark I want it etc. I just don't know whether a quarter pound will get me far enough or do I need to purchase a whole pound? All advice welcome.
@annruel1982
@annruel1982 8 ай бұрын
Hey Vicki. I would get the quarter pound to start with. Do your tests with it and then if the stain works out for you can always purchase more and if it doesnt work for you, then you havent wasted a lot of money. Good luck! Ann.

Haha. Hey Rooster. To each his own. I actually liked the experiment with the crayons on the mug. I think if I were to try that again, I would do it a little differently with more of a small flower theme as in the end they actually looked like little blooms. But you know how these things go. You go from one experiment and instead of just poo pooing the whole thing, I try and pick out what worked and store that in my memory for the next projects.
