Appreciate the video and definitely gave me ideas for how to use pallets. I agree with others that the space is quite small for even just one chicken. Figured I'd share what is recommended. General Space Guidelines Per Chicken Standard Breed Chickens: 4 square feet of coop space per bird; 8 square feet of run space per bird. Standard Heavy Breed Chickens: 8 square feet of coop space per bird; 15 square feet of run space per bird.

use a saws all they go right through those nails and speed up the process ten fold. Or you can use a saw that cuts steel. Pry bar and hammer work too with much effort. Great Build by the way! Thanks for the inspiration :)

If you read what he posted in the beginning of the video, he stated he was reusing the nails from the pallets to build the chicken coop and run. When you don't have a lot of money to spend, you re-purpose everything you can. As he did, I re-purpose everything I can.

Well done. I would raise their coop off the ground, that way they get a bit more room as they could go under it. Plus it’ll provide shade and when it rains the coop would be off the ground & help keep them dry.

i have some points i wanted to share with u. Chickens actually sleep on a roost, even if you do not see this in commercial posture. I would still advise every hobby owner to offer this out of repertoire to the animals. It is an instinct of the animals not to lie on the ground because they do not feel safe there. This will probably also have a positive effect on their health and happiness and you may even notice a diffrence with egg production. In addition, I found the very tiny outside spot quit sad to see. From my personal point of view, you do not do justice to the animals there they hardly have enough space to turn both at the same time, let alone scratch and roll which they both love very much. Please don't get me wrong I see that you have made an effort to make them a nice place but I hope that you can do something with my tips.

I appreciate your thoughts and I do agree with you, there is a plan to expand the coop in the future to do right by the chickens I also want to make them happy and keep them happy.

I think as a challenge you did really well but like some other comments, yes it's too small, especially including the size of the run, predators would be able to get in too.. good build though despite its usage.

Did the same, 20 hens 5 roosters takes time but makes u a bit more appreciative

Have you thought of putting that on wheels so the hens could be moved around the yard and eat fresh grass and bugs daily. Having plenty of space is important. They also like dust baths. They also enjoy exercising, flapping & stretching out their wings. Other than that, good job.

My mother is selling me her one bedroom house on half an acre and there is a half built goat pallet shed in the back just sitting there and I want to tear it down and build a coop with the good pieces as I have a flock of three hens in a tractor that wont work for them come canadian winter.
