Great idea by putting the hole in the top of the lid. The top seals tightly as the water leaves the bucket, and it's almost impossible to get the lid off.

BONUS POINTS for not making us take the lid off. The hole that you cut is big enough for a bottle brush (wine making type) to scrub out the pail if required.

I made a box out of plywood, 4- 3" boards to form a box works great, used what I had.

@ kitkatlex72 You could get a bucket with a screw on cap on the top, make the holes at the bottom of it and just fill it via the cap on top.
@KyleLesmeister9 жыл бұрын
The water would flow out of the holes on the bottom faster than the hose fills it up resulting in a muddy mess in the coop.

Good idea, I have a problem with chickens billing out crumbles which creates a lot of waste, do your chickens bill the food out of this feeder? Thanks

How did you seal the top lid ? How tight is it - did you burn the plastic top on ?

Nipple feeders are a clean solution. They can attach to a pvc pipe so you can fill a reservoir and pipe it out to a pvc line with nipple feeders. My solution is focused on cost, but for a few more bucks you can get a more hands off solution.

You might want to change the 'oil pans' to a food grade pan...the bucket looks like it is food grade. Thanks for taking the time.

Why not just use couple of those larger automatic dog feeders and waterers?! Wouldn't those work just as well?
@tzimmerm278 жыл бұрын
That would work too, but it'll cost about $50. These are $5.
@lennym4808 жыл бұрын
+tzimmerm27 Awesome and thanks for the reply! Those feeders and waterers are far from being $50 Thanks again!

Y cant yu jus add more water from the top instead of the botom??
@tzimmerm273 жыл бұрын
If there is any air leak on top, the water will flow out the bottom completely. I actually did try that, and that’s how I learned that tidbit.

+Amelia Saenz ***Have you ever seen a Chicken Farm?? If you saw where your packaged chicken in the store comes from, you wouldn't even eat it.. These chickens are living the high life in comparison. Nice coop, and a great video.
