David here. I absolutely love these, I so agree we Appalachian peoples are hands down geniuses for making something amazing from nothing. Just a woodworking tip I got from an engineer friend. If you drill each end hole through and use small bolts and nuts with washers under the heads and nuts, it distributes the pressure and avoids splitting. Also you can collapse the star to store and tape a ziplock snack bag with the hardware to store.

Outstanding job on the stars Andy. If Mama and Aunt Marie were still living, we'd be making Christmas stars. They loved decorating and making decorations. If people can't find tobacco sticks, some of these square tomato stakes like I use in the garden would work.

Tell Andy thank you for the Star lesson! I live in Maine so no Tobacco sticks but my husband has a sawmill so I used lumber stickers. Worked like a charm. Merry Christmas!

Whoever that was who said, "you're probably going to break, like, 10 going around this whole house," has had a good start at deductive reasoning - build on that in your homeschooling. When I saw the title of this video, I thought I'd see how you take the main stalk or some other part of the tobacco plant itself. When I saw your tobacco sticks, the bratty little kid voice in my brain said, "them ain't tobacco sticks, them are those sticks across the rafters they hang tobacco leaves on!" I certainly remember those from grandmama's tobacco barn. I recall falling a few times while swinging on them when the end was not securely fastened to the rafter. Those are some great ideas, not only for my own decorations, but quick, easy, and crafty decorations that can make on some extra cash. I don't know anyone who can't use some right now. Thanks for sharing. Take care, y'all.

“For It Is Written, And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.” - Revelation 11:10-13 THE WORD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ALIVE AND WELL!!
