DIY: Citizen NY0040 Promaster Crystal Replacement (Sapphire with Blue AR)

Replacing the hazy stock mineral crystal with a blue AR coated domed sapphire crystal at home. Easy with just a few basic tools!
This particular model is the Citizen Promaster Diver NY0040-17LEM.

Do you know where I can find a crystal gasket for this one? Somehow it popped out and pinched when I was popping out the old crystal 😢

That chapter ring is fairly misaligned at 6 o clock. Is it fixable?

Did i get it right? You pushed the old crystal from the top? I normally push from the back popping the crystal out in the front.

I would have rather pushed th crystal out from the inside. Also perhaps wiped the seal with silicon fluid before pressing in new....

The old crystal? Yeah that's what I did, pushed it out from the inside :) good tip about the silicon fluid!

Is it domed or flat? I tend to prefer flat, because of less reflections. Did you get it pressure tested? I would not want to lose the water resistance. I put a tempered glass protector on mine. Nice job.

Thanks! This one is domed. With the blue antireflective coating I find it fights reflections quite well. Did not get it pressure tested though, better not wear it underwater

@@jtr159 Well it's a certified diver come on! I suggest you tighten it with the tool (clamp) and possibly lube the sealing gasket. One question, what size was the sapphire glass? I've got 2 NY0040 and one is identical to yours, I might do the same as it looks really cool with the blue coating!

​@@samuelevintiit may be, but i'm not ;) might lube the gasket though, thanks for the suggestion! The crystal size is 29.8x4x2.5mm

@@jtr159 thanks! I just assembled myself a summerish captain willard style watch with a seiko nh35 movement and tested in the lake, no condensation whatsoever. In the end of the day they are made for that so I wouldn't worry much!
