Thank you so much, you really are an amazing teacher in practial use of these things. This is such a gem I can't even think of an enough compliment. May your life be easy and succesful. I am currently after a year of learning and gathering parts for my first diy cnc but I wanted to go big, so I must take extra caution which is really complicated given the amount of variables in a cnc world. I wish I was able to financially support your input in the community but maybe one day I can repay or do the same to get even. Cheers

Also, the funniest thing is that after this whole year I acutally pretty much understand what does what and where but still this video in it's comprehensive form makes it such a valuable thing to watch, even just for the double check if you are new to all of this. Many steps in which one can go wrong. I hope when I'll start the assembly it's going to go smooth. Thank you again.

Just wanted to say a big thanks for putting this together. I have the exact same setup as you have here but for some reason my Nema 23 was only running slowly. Then I noticed that you mentioned in a comment about the xml file for the Mach3 config. I swapped it over for your version and it's now running at a reasonable speed.

Superb video! i have been looking into this for such a long time and every time i looked i felt more intimidated by the whole thing. I intend to convert an existing machine (Denford Triac) to mach 3 and upgrade all the motors etc. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this very informative video!

Very informative. Thanks. In regards to the Mach 3 setup, I plan to run an ec300 control board on my plasma cutter table because it has an Ethernet connection. I heard the USB connection boards are prone to interference from the plasma arc. My question is, would an Ethernet connected board be considered a parallel connection in the Mach 3 setup? Thanks. Subscribed.

hello , really nice video just I don't understand why you put the 5V to the D+ et P+ ?? I planned to wire the P- and D- to the ground and D+ and P+ to the XD and XP of the breaking board , is this right ?? thank you in advance
@thehardwareguy6 ай бұрын
5V = Positive Signal. D+ and P+ are the positive side of the signal

@@thehardwareguy I'm pretty confused too... according to the schematic diagram at aliexpress seller's page, the mach3 control board XP and XD outputs connects to the DIR+ and PUL+ in motor driver. PUL- and DIR- are connected to the GND and 5V is not connected at all. Is there another schematic diagram and this one shared by multiple sellers at Ali is wrong? I have ordered the very same driers and closed loop motors (2Nm only). Thanks.

Hi there, Could you please help me with a little thing? After rehoming the machine, i'm sending it to do the job, but it goes in wrong direction. basically it starts from 0 and goes from rehoming corner off the limits. I've tried to reverse them in the motor outputs and still the same. My question is... would be possible to get the mach3 bord connected wrong to the driver? would this be a fix to my problem? to swap the direction pulse wires? Thanks!

Check your configuration switches on the NEMA drivers. There should be a DIP switch with approximately 8 individual switches. Check your driver manual for which one of those switches controls direction. Flip the switches opposite for all the axis' that are giving you problems

at 10 minutes you explained that if there is a short circuit in the spindle controller, the spike in current will propagate in the other circuit. The way I see it, those two circuits are in parallel, so how is it possible that the spike in current propagates in that case? Thanks.

I am having issues with my setup, my motors wont run when i jog mach3. mach3 shows the position changes and the light on the board flickers when i jog but no movement from the motor. the motor is getting power to it as it is locked solid. i have wired up everything how you have it here. even double check with stepperonline for the wiring and it matches. maybe something in mach is not configured correctly? i am using windows 10 is that likely to be it? also with the 24v power supply i noticed you re not using it for the board for testing the motors, does it not need to be used? Thank you
@thehardwareguy4 ай бұрын
Sounds like a Mach3 profile issue. Go to my website and download the DIY CNC zip. In there you will see a Mach3 folder containing my .XML profile for my Mach3 config. Import that, validate the motor outputs with your own and try it again?
@thehardwareguy4 ай бұрын
If using Windows 10 or 11, make sure you don't install the Parallel Port driver when installing Mach3, uncheck it during install. Also the 24V supply is only required to power the proximity sensors and spindle I/O

Why does the set up need 2 power supplies, could your big one not run the motors and the board or am I missing something?
@thehardwareguy7 ай бұрын
Hey man thanks for your question. In my case, the power supply for the NEMA's is 36V, they take an input between 18-48V. The breakout board requires 24V. You could share the power supply at 24V but I would recommend a minimum of 36V to drive NEMA 23's

1:35 - you are not qualified to do what? put a wire in a hole and tighten a screw ? you said you have a master's degree in low voltage so your education is enough to connect two wires. but to connect two slightly thicker wires you need a separate certification for some reason. no wonder why 5$ monkey's job like changing a wall power socket today cost 300$.
@thehardwareguy26 күн бұрын
It's not about being capable of doing it, it's about qualification. Power electronics requires certification by law by somebody qualified to sign it off. For example.... if you do a bad wiring job and your house burns down as a result, your home insurer will investigate and ask you who approved your wiring, if nobody approved your wiring. Your policy will be void. Do it by the book.
@vasyapupken25 күн бұрын
and you really doesn't see anything wrong about it ? ) for example... i know proper grounding is a big thing in UK. everything must be grounded cause otherwise it will be very dangerous. at the same time many countries have no ground wire at all and nobody gets hurt or anything.
