Did you use loctite for assembly too or just split washers?
@thehardwareguy4 күн бұрын
On the main chassis where split washers were used they seem to be holding up really well. In other areas of the build such as the Z -Axis, loctite is definitely required

That's amazing! Now all I need is for the oldest to move out so I can expand my workshop into his bedroom to fit this thing. Shouldn't be more than 15 years or so. :) But seriously, thank you. Your effort and generosity is much appreciated!

I love to see new OSHW machine tools! Kudos for making it and releasing it. I wonder how much work it would be to port the drawings to FreeCAD and the controller to LinuxCNC so it can be a fully open system. I'm not bashing F360 or Mach, btw, just noting that the project is pretty close to being free as in beer and as in speech.
@thehardwareguy5 күн бұрын
Thanks man! I see where you are coming from. This is something I will certainly look into going forward, particularly around LinuxCNC. For me Mach3 was simply a way to get this running and test it out. I have said from the start that I will be moving away from it. As someone who teaches CAD (including FreeCAD) I can honestly say FreeCAD is dreadful, it's a real mess and the UI is awful. Fusion 360 is still free but limited to a number of projects unfortunately. This was a greedy move by Autodesk.
@OhHeyTrevorFlowers5 күн бұрын
@@thehardwareguy I get that many people don't like FreeCAD. I came from Solidworks and Mastercam and for whatever reason FreeCAD works fine for my needs. But yeah, the deal Autodesk offers for free Fusion360 just keeps getting worse and also worse for indies who are willing to pay but not at like, Boeing level of cost. 🙂 But again, thanks for making and sharing the design! That's the main thing.

Great info. Glad I stumbled on your channel! I'm coming over for coffee! Lol. Question... if I want to use a rotary axis, do I need a 5th stepper driver or do I utilize the Y axis driver? Do I need a different control board also? Also, why did you use Mach 3 instead of possibly the Arduino board. I want to build my own also as the retail packages seem to always miss the mark in features for all the money they want. Thank you for your help! Jeff in the USA

I have to agree with the past 20 comments that the other users left. This was an excellent presentation!!!! You're a natural educator. I'm looking forward to watching all of your FreeCad videos. I've subscribed to your channel, as well as other previous FreeCad channels, but yours is the first one I've selected the "bell" to see more of your new content. Now, on to the next video to learn what the other "Beginners to FreeCad" channel tutorials missed explaining.

Hi, I'm not sure if you'll see this but I said I'll try ask. I'm working on an rc car project for my final year project in uni (Electronic Engineering) and have hit a bit of a wall with steering the thing. I came across this video series and have been provided with a solution that is outside of my capabilities due to the lack of a 3D printer. I have found a way around it but my main question is about the servo motor and overall weight of the car. Would you mind letting me know the overall weight of the project if you still remember and how much the servo can pull/ what servo you used? It would be greatly appreciated. Overall great video and series on this specific project! Thanks.

@thehardwareguy16 күн бұрын
You're most welcome, glad I could help! I wouldn't recommend the rotary tool for this model of the Falcon. From my research it looks like the Rotary Kit is designed to work with the "Falcon 2" not the "Falcon 2 Pro". I could be wrong, but based on my experience this seems to be the case.

hello , really nice video just I don't understand why you put the 5V to the D+ et P+ ?? I planned to wire the P- and D- to the ground and D+ and P+ to the XD and XP of the breaking board , is this right ?? thank you in advance
@thehardwareguy16 күн бұрын
5V = Positive Signal. D+ and P+ are the positive side of the signal

If you are doing a large part design which is only going to be a 1 of, with no possiblity of any changes, ie sizes, this parametric would be a waste of time, wouldnt it?

No need for a primer if using Polyfilla, correct? Any thoughts on using just nail polish for small surfaces like eyeballs only?
@thehardwareguy24 күн бұрын
Hey! what I used is a Filla-Primer, essentially a 2 in 1 solution. I recommend that! absolutely you can use nail polish, you can use anything as long as you can get it to stick!

Hello Garath, nice CNC build and good to see you completed the project. For me the most interesting bit is the control aspect, the bit between the software and the actual CNC motion mechanics. There are many presenters for CNC builds and software, however not many delve into the Microcontrollers. It seems to me you have a talent for explaining and have sound knowledge of Microcontrollers. Will you be expanding your presentations with regard Microcontrollers in the future, e.g. STM32, ESP32, Arduinos etc? I hope you do as the Engineering of motion control is the important part of these types of project, please let me know and thanks for the good work. Jo

(And why do i have to listen to their life story before they start? 😴 ) Yours is a breath of fresh air. Made simple and to the point without spinning your cursor over the screen until i feel sea sick! Cheers.
