You need to lubricate your lead screws. The squealing noise it made when you first moved it is from lack of lubrication. You also need to keep the guide rails clean and lubricated as well. Good build, it is amazing to see a CNC router with the structural parts all made from wood.
@caseyfinn46824 жыл бұрын
What would you suggest to use for lubricant?
@BigJohnno664 жыл бұрын
@@caseyfinn4682 I use a PTFE synthetic grease (SuperLube), however people also use light mineral oil. There is also spray on dry PTFE lubricant that people recommend in dusty environments, but I haven't tried that.

Excellent, thank you. Love the format, just the right amount of essential information, like lead screws and linear rails. It’s the little things that help, never thought you could put a lead screw through a ball bearing like that. Will be building mine shortly but I can see a few things I might upgrade: not convinced about the router clamp being held on just with glue and I might 3D print the bearing housings rather than use wood. Trivial little upgrades really. Thank you again for putting in the effort to make these videos.❤

First off i want to say that you built an excellent CNC machine! I am building one based on your design and i was wondering whether you have any problems with the z-axis stiffness (is there any play) because of the use of only a metal rod instead of the guide rails you are using for the x- and y-axis. Keep up the great content!

An amazing thing is that almost all machinery beside basic tools is self-made. The video looks great. Some important measurements were left behind the scene. However, people, who is able to make similar stuff, can recover the logic and, in addition, learn a lot of tricks. I have just got all mechanical parts and going to rebuild my first version of CNC which was made of furniture rulers. Thanks a lot for this video!

They make “compression” router bits for plywood. They have the spiral flutes heading towards a point in the middle of the bit (from both the top and bottom) so that the cutting forces don’t produce tear-out of the top layer.

If you are not using zero-backlash ball screws; you should probably use two leadscrew nuts per axis. This allows you to adjust them relative to each other to remove backlash.
