Hint- tie the frame to the hand truck and then the end of the frame becomes the handle for the hand truck.

Very cool project! I grew up in Vermont where we also get a couple false springs before true mud season. I recently made a little starter pot maker for my parents, since they start veggies inside. Basically you wrap strips of newspaper wound it and press the bottom on and it makes little 3” biodegradable starter pots that you can just chuck in the ground when it warms up outside. And I made it from cherry I cut down at their house! You’re giving a presentation at my woodworking club tomorrow night, I’ll show you during show and tell 😁😇

Love watching you work on your projects. We have the same reactions to a board falling or something heavy having a mind of its own. I’ve been renovating our 1995 trailer by using things on hand and/or making what I need instead of buying. Saves tons of money and is very satisfying.

Anne, I finally tried your channel a month ago and your energy and drive makes you special and I mean that in a good way...🙂 My wife and I have a market -garden and attend 2 Farmer's Markets in Central PA. I have thought about building cold frames, though we over-winter a fair amount of veggies in low tunnels. We were at the gardens in Colonial Williamsburg this fall and they have cold frames with glass frames, but theirs goes 2 feet into the ground and they start them in February and fill them 3/4 the way full with raw/fresh horse manure and the last 1/4 with just regular soil. The manure compost heats and keeps the plants/box above freezing and slowly drops down into the cold frame as it breaks-down and then they just repeat the process next winter again.

When I was restoring my hovercraft, I bought a sheet of "Thermoclear" back in the early '90s. It looked just like the material you used. It was available in 1/4 3/8 & 1/2" square holes.

The mobile chicken coop and fence is a great idea...to move the coop and chicken scratch area to green areas without killing off the green stuff in one permanent pen!!!

To move those awkward planter boxes, stand inside and grab under the long sides. You should be able to easily pick up and carry it without needing a handcart. I made some similar boxes, but I used plywood on the bottom and raised them on cement blocks. No need to bend over unnecessarily, save the back. Also, cut the corner braces into triangles. That cuts down on the amount of wood used, increases the soil area, and you don't have a corner sticking out ready to poke you.

Hint for moving large rectangular items: Screw some handles on one narrow end. Slide the dolly under the other narrow end and screw the dolly to the item. My dolly had a center brace, and a single hole through that with a heavy-duty screw was enough. Lift the handles and roll away. Putting the handles close to the edge gives some stability. I moved some 10'x3' raised bed frames weighing about 150lbs. this way with no problem.

Hi! greetings from Vienna/Austria/Europe! silent viewer so far and i like your content. i'm absolutly faszinated by the modern homesteading movement, as i found out about it in ... let me think, when was that? i guess 2018 'ish? i guess? don't remember if you may allow ... i have a question: i've never heard of that tuftex material, so i'm curious. do you know anything about ... i mean ... if you build actual greenhouse, like an small one for a garden which a lot of poeple out there may have, and you build it with that tuftex, instead of normal glass. how good is it to keep the warmth inside the building comparring to a greenhouse made of normal glass with the same size? as you mentiond, your donkey stepd on it and it doesn't brake, so it seems to be pretty solid against damage. that would be very intersting to know. it could be decent alternativ to the heavy glass which is very fragil, as we all know. greetings from Vienna PS: my mothertongue is austrian kind of german, so there can be parts of my text, which may sound weird. sorry, i still have to work an my english. and any tipping errors you may find, i don't need anymore, you can keep it. :P

How do you protect from cooking the plants? Does the UV protection of the sheet help with that? I covered our raised bed with translucent plastic to protect from a frost. The next afternoon everything was brown and dead :(
