I love the challenge to combine concrete and acrylic. At first glance it seems straight forward project, but when you watch the video, you understand how much work was put in. Amazing!

That is really a good idea and its great to see a sled being used on the circular saw., so many people dont use one and can easily loose their fingers.... Great job. Might have to pop a couple of holes in the bottom to allow some air into the led chamber as it could get quite hot in there, while leds are very nice for this sort of light they do give off a lot of heat from the onboard resistors on the tape.

Nice idea and great project. Ebay has round, clear, acrylic rods available in 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", and 8mm diameters which could make a similar, but more expensive project.

It is best to leave the protective covers on whilst cutting as it contains lubricants and helps to cut down on the acrylic melting and producing micro scopic cracks that could grow and split the work if it comes under stress.

how bright is the light on this? is there a limit to the length or how much you can bend the acrylic before it's too dim?

Cool! :-) I always enjoy watching concrete projects, and am finally planning one of my own. BTW, I've gotta believe you'd get more light output by mounting the LEDs facing up (or bending the plastic stubs outwards)...

Sticking led strips straight to wood isn't a good idea because of heat transmission. The leds will burn out sooner and in the worst case you have a fire hazard on your hands.
