easiest one to build.... say less I am very torn what printer to make rook mk1, the 100, the Rook 2020 but this one does look pretty easy to build. I'm a noob still imo. I'd like a bigger print area but I guess could just change out the extrusions. 👍 great job sir

This is the one that's going to get me to build a rook. Infinite expandability. 😍
@amani576 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I thought the normal rook was cool, but wasn't really a fan of its construction (personal thing more than an actual critical thing). But I'm actively working on getting stuff to print this. Bought some Sparta3d Sparkle ABS for it this morning.

Would love to see you modify the bed so that it isn't cantilevered. As I find many of those have issues with holding level (on the lever, as well as "left/right" as the rods or rails can allow tilt (different heights). A "trident" style is my favorite, but even just a dual lead screw/belt system would work better than the cantilever imo
@Rolohaun Жыл бұрын
for a printer this size cantilevered is fine but yes my other printers will use 3 point support like trident
@kanrogcreations Жыл бұрын
You would need to design a new bed-frame, but the motor-mounts and idlers on z can be put anywhere. Simply print two more z-motor-mounts and adapt your bed to suit. Using 4 linear rods is simple too, 2 more rods and 4 more of the brackets for them.

I solved dual or multi Z threaded rod alignment issues for many Z bed print setups. Key is to allow the Z threaded rod to move to and from relative to direction all around but not spin the Z screw nut. Z screw nut is bolted to L shaped bar. L bar lifts the vertically tall bars bolted to the bed rail carriers. The key is to not bolt L bar to flat bar. This allows movements of Z screw on threaded rod, but it will not spin. All spinning movements of threaded rod will move the z screw up and down.

this is belted Z it does not have a lead scew

I started with a Monoprice maker select V2 bed slinger with 200x200 bed and I kept upgrading it until the main board died so I got a SKR Pico V1.0 for it but haven't gotten the board powered up yet with a pi since I've never used Klipper before. Since then I have a prusa mini and sovol sv06 printer that both print really well but the maker select is sitting dormant for years now. I keep debating on re-using as much as I can from the "maker select" to convert it to a core xy printer then I stumbled on the rook a few weeks ago then "THE 100" recently. I really want to re-use my 200x200 bed so wondering how good/bad it would be to scale up the rook 2020 then I wonder how hard it would be to convert to round rails to re-use more "maker select" parts. Then I think I should just sell the "maker select" as is project and the working prusa mini to fund a Bambu Lab P1P. Maybe sell the SV06 too and just have 1 printer.

If you're looking at a bambu, take a look at the new Creality K1. Has lidar and Creality is claiming it's faster than the bambu. It's corexy, starts at $599, does a 13 minute benchy in ABS. I could go on and on about the features but I'd suggest it. Looks like a sweet competitor. The k1 max, the bigger boy, has a 300x300mm build volume!
