this pattern is so easy to follow! but just a warning for others, i’ve been working on the shorts for a really long time and they take forever to work up because each row adds a centimeter of length and i’m also on my second skein of yarn and will definitely need a third ball of yarn. i can’t stop now because i’ve put so much time but i think it would be much quicker to use treble crochet or a bigger hook or thicker yarn to make the project much quicker. i’m about 7 inches in and only halfway through🥲

I guess it depends on size because for mine, I had 12 rows for these shorts XS which took me a few hrs. Of course you would need more time and yarn if you are making a bigger size. Also depends on your preference, If you use a bigger hook and treble, your shorts will be see through. I find it definitely neater with tighter stitches.

This project was a lot of fun. Got it done in a couple of hours. I did realize though that, instead of making extra small I should do a small and then make this booty shorts shorter. Excellent work though I love this tutorial.

These are too cute! I googled the yarn and realized you were using a type of sock yarn. This would make the perfect boy short bathing suit bottom! Now that I'm officially a senior (gasp) I need a little more tummy coverage. 😆

Ohh yes it’s sock yarn, was gifted different yarn types by mother-in-law about a yr ago and I’m just getting creative with it 😊. Yes, you can make the waist band longer for better coverage

My daughter requested a pair of these shorts in the trendy grey and white. So I used normal DK with the 3 crochet hook. Chain on 2.75 hook to begin. She is small and wanted adjustments which were as follows 5.5inch rubbed waistband. 16 inch full waist to end of leg. She didn't want the booty short. It worked out very well. Don't know if I can upload the picture into the comments. But it turned out really well. This is the 2nd item I have made following your tutorials and all worked out well. She now wants a matching top which I am using your other video to do the mesh top.

If I'm understanding you correctly, it's quite normal for a thin project to start curling in on itself. However, as you keep going, it shouldn't curl up anymore :)

It is normal that it curls a lot in the beginning. As you go along it will stop curling so much. It is quite hard as a beginner when it curls and bends like that but keep going. Take your time. You can do it!!

Also, make sure you are counting your stitches on the band, so you're putting the same amount of Half dc in each row, You might think you have an extra stitch (I do this a lot) and put one, and then it starts to curve or go uneven.

Hi there! A little here.. for your waistband, measure slightly above your bum. And when you’re done with it the waistband, work an increase into the first and last stitch till you get to where you want to divide the crotch. Hope this helps ☺️
