I was wondering the same but I think it's for the heat from the fireplace. The heat comes out the top of that one, so not ideal for a media wall! Better to have one with the heat coming out the front.

Finally, a media wall built in the same way that I do using mdf. A far stronger better job needing a higher skill set which is why it seems to be a rare method these days. I cringe when I see cheating plasterboard versions particularly lining the horizontal load bearing shelf surfaces. Extra thick shelf sections it’s not hard to cover the front face with glued 6mm mdf, router flush and sand. The first coat of paint will solidify that 6mm for a sanding to make it vanish. Green MF mdf is denser and gives better results.

If that slotted area underneath the tv is for a soundbar, you're going to absolutely strangle it. You might as well roll it up in some towels.
@DDconstruction1
@DDconstruction1 8 ай бұрын
Haha there is a long story to go with that . Basically before starting, I told the client I need size of the TV size of the Fire and the size of the slot for the soundbar. I learned a valuable lesson never trust somebody with a measuring tape who doesn’t work in the trade. He gave me the wrong size for the TV and sound bar but somehow it worked out that the sound bar fit under the TV and the slot is used for the remote controls Hopefully that answers your concerns haha 👍

@@DDconstruction1That’s a recipe for disaster so often letting a customer get materials, get it wrong to slow the job down or stop you, only for you to waste your time sorting their mess out. My preference is to buy materials, usually cheaper than they do, add my bit of profit which only raises the material price to what they would pay anyway, then the job runs more smoothly, more profitably for me, at no additional cost to the customer

seems like a waste, a wall that size and a 55" tv?... i mean look at the space all around the tv

Hi I couldn’t agree with you more their A bigger TV would’ve looked a lot better. I told the client if I make the wall to suit a 55 inch, they could never get a bigger one they insisted they would never want to get a bigger TV🤷🏻

TV is way too small for that built-in and should never be smaller than a fireplace insert. Right now, this is not a media center but a fireplace center with oversized shelving.
