Hi yes you are correct prime the MDF plenty of paint in the cut edges Allowed to dry and sand then all screws should be sunk below surface and simply fill and sand

I was wondering the same but I think it's for the heat from the fireplace. The heat comes out the top of that one, so not ideal for a media wall! Better to have one with the heat coming out the front.

It wasn’t actually for the heat. You’re correct the heat is coming from the top but it is pushed out the front at the top of the unit

@@ricardorosas3740 thanks for the positive feedback so the glass can be removed to access the inside of the fire and behind the TV I have an access panel on the right and left however if the fire totally breaks and needs to be replaced you would have to take the front face of the unit . Thank you so much for your positive feedback When joining two pieces of MDF, you should have a timber behind and use plenty of screws to stop any movement between the two pieces of MDF if you use an epoxy wood filler and then sand after the joint will be seamless For the drawers, I used a heavy duty ball bearing drawer runner you can get them on Amazon and I built the drawers from more MDF Hope this helps any more questions. Lovely job. Im mad to get a media wall done but its so hard to get the trade lads to work together as in installer and electrician. Their just so busy. I understand the units need to be recessed for the c channel diffuser strip. But trying to plan for the wiring pre install is a nightmare!

@@stephendonlevy9473 the cost will change depending on the size and what you built from in the video. I use MDF, which is a lot more work therefore more expensive than to build it from plasterboard. Roughly a medium are built from plasterboard good cost 2500 to 3000 also depending on where you’re watching from materials and labour could cost more or less hope that helps

Finally, a media wall built in the same way that I do using mdf. A far stronger better job needing a higher skill set which is why it seems to be a rare method these days. I cringe when I see cheating plasterboard versions particularly lining the horizontal load bearing shelf surfaces. Extra thick shelf sections it’s not hard to cover the front face with glued 6mm mdf, router flush and sand. The first coat of paint will solidify that 6mm for a sanding to make it vanish. Green MF mdf is denser and gives better results.

Hi I got a painter to finish it and he did use wood filler . It is a lot of work to do it in MDF. I did because they want to drawers. But if you were doing it without the drawers you can build in 2 x 3 and use drywall and plaster finish

If that slotted area underneath the tv is for a soundbar, you're going to absolutely strangle it. You might as well roll it up in some towels.

Haha there is a long story to go with that . Basically before starting, I told the client I need size of the TV size of the Fire and the size of the slot for the soundbar. I learned a valuable lesson never trust somebody with a measuring tape who doesn’t work in the trade. He gave me the wrong size for the TV and sound bar but somehow it worked out that the sound bar fit under the TV and the slot is used for the remote controls Hopefully that answers your concerns haha 👍

@@DDconstruction1That’s a recipe for disaster so often letting a customer get materials, get it wrong to slow the job down or stop you, only for you to waste your time sorting their mess out. My preference is to buy materials, usually cheaper than they do, add my bit of profit which only raises the material price to what they would pay anyway, then the job runs more smoothly, more profitably for me, at no additional cost to the customer

Hi I couldn’t agree with you more their A bigger TV would’ve looked a lot better. I told the client if I make the wall to suit a 55 inch, they could never get a bigger one they insisted they would never want to get a bigger TV🤷🏻

TV is way too small for that built-in and should never be smaller than a fireplace insert. Right now, this is not a media center but a fireplace center with oversized shelving.

Yes recommended to the client a 65 inch TV but they insisted they only wanted 55 inch they were very happy with the final product
