Yeah, from now on I will stick with the following brands: - Koch Chemie - Gyeon - Car Pro - DIY Detail - Adams - P&S And I'll try Jimbo's latest product. These brands work for me, but maybe not for others. That's cool.. I too am a DIYer. Retired and living comfortably. I don't need OG equip.. But he is very entertaining. Now I am downsizing what is in my detailing cart. I seriously doubt that most guys can really tell the difference between the different premium product brands. As long as I don't neglect taking care of my cars and keeping them away from the elements, I should be O.K.. I find that using the proper technique and tools learned on YT are very important! Thanxs You Tube!

I totally agree with you. As a beginner, and I mean beginner, my mentor has been and continues to be the internet. The first videos I watched were from DIY, so I jumped on that band wagon and have about 80-85% of their whole product line!! I did buy some quality MF towels and some towel cleaner/rejuvenator from rags to riches. I will be doing my first coating today because I wanted to experience that process (DIY's graphene coating - around $60.00). There are many products I want to try, but Ive put the brakes on for now and agree with you completely that, for the most part, most enthusiast's can't tell product A from product B. From the internet, I have learned how to properly wash a car and believe in the foam, rinse, foam-contact or rinesless, rinse, rinesless-contact because Ive done it that way and it works; maybe a little all purpose cleaner if extra dirty or bug guts, ect... Now Ive learned that your 5 year coating may need to be "unclogged" after 6 months or so depending on driving habits, garage kept, ect...that was a shocker in a way, because, why can't you just wash it/take car of it and ride that 5 year coating wave? Moving forward, I will be using old school compound, polish and wax, or just apply some type of sealant and take care of it as usual. Im more willing to do a light decon on that -vs- having to do it (or pay to have it done) on a thousand dollar coating (went there too). There are just too many products out there; its confusing - just for the tires and rims, you can use at least 4 products - stuff for tires, stuff for rims, multiple and different brushes for the barrels, the face - you get my drift..so thanks for your comments - glad to know others are starting to get it - Im not bashing the industry. I continue to watch videos and learn. I love detailing; can't get enough of it!!! It's just becoming confusing due to the enormous amount of products flooding this market. Thanks!!

Thanks for the feedback! I’d love to do a head-to-head torture test with my products-it would be interesting to see the durability differences side by side. However, in this industry, companies can be quick to lawyer up when they feel like their products are being challenged, especially if they don’t hold up as well. So, to avoid any unnecessary legal headaches, I try to steer clear of direct “torture tests” with my brand vs other brands as much as possible.

We have the DIY ceramic gloss and Pans Clean Spray Sealant . Both are great by our assessment. Ease of application for both, wipe off is easy, no smearing, no streaking, evaporates great, nice gloss. I personally can’t say which one is better as I like them both. Myself nor my clients are going to be spraying these chemicals on their vehicle so it’s really irrelevant about these alleged torture tests. We specialize in applying ceramic coatings so anytime we use a spray seal like DIY, ceramic gloss or Pans sealant is typically for a topper. We don’t do that Many standalone spray sealant detail jobs.

In the pharmaceutical industry , when developing drug products, we do the same thing where we stress test , storing it under higher temperatures to see how fast they would degrade, to determine or project shelf-life. We also do extreme stress tests on the drug , extreme low and high pH, oxidizing agents etc , to see what impurities would come out of the drug. But they all have a reason for it. When you apply these super harsh cleaners on the treated paint surface , obviously they would naturally degrade, as it was not meant to handle that. I mean these are detailers, not ceramic 9H coatings. Infotainment , sure, but a bit meaningless, not informative at all. You can compare performance like beading, gloss, ease of application, etc…. These are maintenance products, which means you use it fairly regularly.

Agreed. I would say if you want to torture test the panel after application for any test using things they naturally would become exposed to would be most beneficial. Ultra hard water, mud, dirt, mag chloride, salt, high heat exposure. Cold, freezing water. Etc. The chemicals being used to "torture test" are nothing close to what they would encounter.

Unmatched Durability - Long-lasting protection that keeps your car looking its best with fewer applications (you can watch my torture test on it) 3. Unique Micro Emulsion Technology - Unlike most products, Tough As Shell is a negatively charged micro emulsion. While most (if not all) others, positively charged macro emulsions attract dust like magnets, Tough As Shell helps keep dust at bay - a game-changer in car care that most can’t offer. Forensic Detailing tested it out. Collinite Beadcoat was more durable than TW Seal n Shine when tested with Bilt-Hamber Surfex HD (highly alkaline). But the TW was slightly more durable than Beadcoat in a separate test using Gyeon Total Remover (highly acidic).

I did a 3-way test with the new Collinite spray sealant, Jimbo's Hard as Shell (HaS - original) and Griot's 3in1 on the hood of my vehicle. For ease of application: by a wide margin it was HaS, then 3in1 then Collinite. For surface feel: HaS was very smooth, 3in1 has that very noticeable carnuba-waxy feel, and my least favorite was Collinite that was a bit rough/grippy. All 3 had great water beading initially. All 3 improved gloss, but the HaS had that glass hard shine look. Durability: Collinite started failing first just after 2 months followed shortly thereafter by Jimbo's HaS. Griot's 3in1 is still going strong. I will be giving the Collinite away/not using again. If I get the newer Jimbo's TaS I will do another side by side with Griot's.

In the real world your never going to put a wheel cleaner fallout on to wash after you put on a sealant. To do a proper real world test then your going to more than likely use some sort of bug remover on your maintenance wash...mabey first try a citrus pre wash then an APC and then a bug remover, tar and glue remover and work your way up to the fallout and panel wipe

Snake oil as in it's not as good and he boasts it is. At the end of the day they are just spray sealants. They aren't designed to be like a full blown coating, they're easy to apply and can both be used as a drying aid to re apply, UV and hydrophobics are good enough for most people.
