Yeah, from now on I will stick with the following brands: - Koch Chemie - Gyeon - Car Pro - DIY Detail - Adams - P&S And I'll try Jimbo's latest product. These brands work for me, but maybe not for others. That's cool.. I too am a DIYer. Retired and living comfortably. I don't need OG equip.. But he is very entertaining. Now I am downsizing what is in my detailing cart. I seriously doubt that most guys can really tell the difference between the different premium product brands. I totally agree with you. As a beginner, and I mean beginner, my mentor has been and continues to be the internet. The first videos I watched were from DIY, so I jumped on that band wagon and have about 80-85% of their whole product line!! I did buy some quality MF towels and some towel cleaner/rejuvenator from rags to riches. I will be doing my first coating today because I wanted to experience that process (DIY's graphene coating - around $60.00). There are many products I want to try, but Ive put the brakes on for now and agree with you completely that, for the most part, most enthusiast's can't tell product A from product B. From the internet, I have learned how to properly wash a car and believe in the foam, rinse, foam-contact or rinesless, rinse, rinesless-contact because Ive done it that way and it works; maybe a little all purpose cleaner if extra dirty or bug guts, ect... Now Ive learned that your 5 year coating may need to be "unclogged" after 6 months or so depending on driving habits, garage kept, ect...that was a shocker in a way, because, why can't you just wash it/take car of it and ride that 5 year coating wave? Moving forward, I will be using old school compound, polish and wax, or just apply some type of sealant and take care of it as usual. Im more willing to do a light decon on that -vs- having to do it (or pay to have it done) on a thousand dollar coating (went there too). There are just too many products out there; its confusing - just for the tires and rims, you can use at least 4 products - stuff for tires, stuff for rims, multiple and different brushes for the barrels, the face - you get my drift..so thanks for your comments - glad to know others are starting to get it - Im not bashing the industry. I continue to watch videos and learn. I love detailing; can't get enough of it!!! It's just becoming confusing due to the enormous amount of products flooding this market. Thanks!!

We have the DIY ceramic gloss and Pans Clean Spray Sealant . Both are great by our assessment. Ease of application for both, wipe off is easy, no smearing, no streaking, evaporates great, nice gloss. I personally can’t say which one is better as I like them both. Myself nor my clients are going to be spraying these chemicals on their vehicle so it’s really irrelevant about these alleged torture tests. We specialize in applying ceramic coatings so anytime we use a spray seal like DIY, ceramic gloss or Pans sealant is typically for a topper. We don’t do that Many standalone spray sealant detail jobs.

In the pharmaceutical industry , when developing drug products, we do the same thing where we stress test , storing it under higher temperatures to see how fast they would degrade, to determine or project shelf-life. We also do extreme stress tests on the drug , extreme low and high pH, oxidizing agents etc , to see what impurities would come out of the drug. But they all have a reason for it. When you apply these super harsh cleaners on the treated paint surface , obviously they would naturally degrade, as it was not meant to handle that. I mean these are detailers, not ceramic 9H coatings. Infotainment , sure, but a bit meaningless, not informative at all. You can compare performance like beading, gloss, ease of application, etc…. These are maintenance products, which means you use it fairly regularly.

Agreed. I would say if you want to torture test the panel after application for any test using things they naturally would become exposed to would be most beneficial. Ultra hard water, mud, dirt, mag chloride, salt, high heat exposure. Cold, freezing water. Etc. The chemicals being used to "torture test" are nothing close to what they would encounter.

Snake oil as in it's not as good and he boasts it is. At the end of the day they are just spray sealants. They aren't designed to be like a full blown coating, they're easy to apply and can both be used as a drying aid to re apply, UV and hydrophobics are good enough for most people.

Chem-X SnakeOil is actually one of the most durable foam and rinse sealants out there. Just as good if not better than Carpro HydrO2Foam and Labocosmetica Revitax.
