You have a pretty awesome dad. I'm assuming that is your dad anyway. Being a father, and the son of one who taught me a great deal, its always good seeing a parental figure teaching an art form to the next generation. Great video. I'm greatly enjoying your artwork.

Great video. I did my first copper wire inlay last week and it came out pretty good. I chose to use a small precision screw driver and I sharpened the flat end so I would get a more even cleaner channel for the wire. It takes longer with the precision screwdriver but I get a cleaner channel. I used 18 gauge wire and then I flattened the wire with my Pepe Tool rolling mill. Anyway great job and thanks for the information.

thanks for that, i was sort of limited for tools like i couldnt flatten iut or anything but the sander seemed to do a pretty good job at flatenning it, and my naive nature didnt even think of sharpening the screwdrive but hey, it turned out alright, thankyou for the reply:)

Yes I really like your work. The small screwdriver will also help inlaying small piece such as jewelry. I also located a hand scribe tool that has a sharp blade and you can scribe the inlay channel without hammering.

I bought one of those the other day and find it so handy for getting precise scribings

What was the shape of the wire? Round? Or did you buy it flat....or perhaps hammer round wire into flatness? Very excellent completed product!

Thanks for sharing the video. One safety related thing I wanted to mention, though. Unless I am mistaken, it looks like you are using a sliding compound-miter saw to cut the wood and you pulled it towards you after plunging it into the wood. That is very dangerous. That tool is meant to be pulled towards you, THEN plunged into the wood, and then pushed AWAY FROM YOU WHILE YOU CUT. I'm not trying to be a know-it-all here, I just felt compelled to comment from a safety standpoint. I hope you understand. Thanks again for sharing a very cool video. Cheers!

Thanks for that. I never realised it was a safety point - but stopped doing it when it pushed my board off square once.

I saw it and cringed haha, always good to learn the safety points though it's too easy to get comfortable with these sorts of tools.

Jeff Scott He will learn when he brakes his hand/face on a violent peace ov wood. I don't like the fact people make tut vid's and don't point out they are not shore the correct way to do thing's. I think him missuse of the copsaw should get him banned from youtube. and i should be banned for not being able to spell

+Jeff Scott Yep-yep. I had the same comment locked and loaded. A 2 1/4" piece of face frame is one thing, but a foot or more worth of hardwood is just begging to grab that blade! Good eye.

So many people use glue and I just don't get it. It is way easier and less messy to just use water.

After you sanded it, was that a higher grit sandpaper you put on, or was that a leather strop to polish?

Yes a plainishing hammer if youre skilled an ordinary hammer will do ensure even hammer blows overlapping them by half as you go.
@Deebz270
@Deebz270 3 жыл бұрын
@@ashhamer1075 So you used ordinary round wire? Chances are, it will lift or drop out in time. And copper is notoriously adverse to glueing, because of its ability to self-oxidate at the surface. One reason why it was once used as an anti-foulinng coat or sheath on ships hulls...

It's a "radial arm saw" or "sliding miter saw", which are pretty great tools. Something like this: www.tylertool.com/ridgid-zrr4221-15-amp-12-in--dual-bevel-sliding-miter-saw/rgdrzrr4221,default,pd.html

Jessica Taylor Cannot say for certain but it looks like epoxy, used this way to achieve a laquered finish that is much more durable than such a finish would be (also saves on the work involved).

How is this 'detailed'? You don't mention a single product you are using, or even say generically what it is you are using. Nothing about time either. What's the point? I don't get it. It seems to be the antithesis of detailed to me.
