You have sure come a long way since I started watching your channel! Back when you got the ahp alpha tig learning how to weld aluminum with it to quickly after being one of the best aluminum welders on KZbin to now, fabricating whatever you feel like making! Good stuff bro keep it up!

I don't understand, ~3 years tigging and I don't comprehend how your tourch ~flame is perfect. DC tig on stainless & steels is like your video, but AC aluminum is flipping crack head crazy all over the place, completely unpredictable, and like.....hard core static-ey. The torch flame is broken, uneven, and dances .

It appears that when you move forward and start to dab you press on the pedal to increase current then lift off and move forward again and repeat? That's what you told me to do last time, it's been a while since welded. I'm going to make a coffee table like that one you made. Also why use the HTP 400 vs the HTP220. I only have the HTP220.

I use an adjustable nd filter i think its 0 to 400 and f stop to 32 and iso 100. A 500 nd filter would probably be better

Hey Max, did you notice any cracking issues when bending such thick aluminum or does 5052 tolerate it pretty well? Also, what filler did you use? Great vid, keep em coming and have a great weekend! - Kurt
@5thStreetFab3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud! Nope no cracking issues. 5052 is pretty ductile so bending isnt much of a problem. I've had the occasional piece of 1/4" or 3/8" crack when bent but usually it seems like its just a bad batch of metal. I used 5356 filler!
@murphy67673 жыл бұрын
Was that 1/8" 5356??? Awesome build..
@5thStreetFab3 жыл бұрын
Nope i used 3/32" 5356 i normally only use 1/8" for thick parts like 3/16" and bigger

Awesome video Max! Love this type of content. What is the guage capacity on the grizzly box and pan? I've been wanting one for a while but most manual machines I've seen are rated for like 16 guage at full capacity. Press brakes seem a little too pricy for a hobbyist guy. Also can't wait to see how the cnc router works out bc Ive wanted to go that way for a while as well. Be interesting to see how well it works with a more budget machine.
@5thStreetFab3 жыл бұрын
16 gauge! Haha it works just fine with 1/8" aluminum. Ive done some .160 also

Awesome! Do you use a fixed shade helmet? If so what shade do you use?
@5thStreetFab3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Ya i use a gold shade 10 with a magenta filter. It kind of darkens it to about a shade 12. Shade 12 is what i normally use

After so many hours of welding......do you find it 'EASY' to weld like you do......or do you still have challenges that piss you off?????
@5thStreetFab3 жыл бұрын
Things like this are easy now but man i do a shit ton of out of position welds on dirty boats with a roller switch instead of a pedal haha which does piss me off!! But it makes me better each time so i like it at the same time
